Rory McIlroy opens up on filming movie with Adam | Golf News

Rory McIlroy has playfully cautioned followers to handle their expectations relating to his performing chops as he joins the solid of ‘Happy Gilmore 2,’ scheduled for release this summer time.

After bagging the Masters title, McIlroy will probably be starring alongside massive names including Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas, Brooks Koepka, and Bryson DeChambeau in the comedy sequel helmed by Adam Sandler, where Sandler reprises his iconic position from the 1996 hit.

The group starred in a promotional trailer with Netflix setting the premier date for July 25. Still, during his stint on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,’ McIlroy quipped about his efficiency and expressed admiration for Sandler’s expertise.

“I will preface this, the movie is coming out in July. I’m a much better golfer than I am an actor,” mentioned McIlroy, who also talked about his childhood love for the unique movie and how he might quote it verbatim, including that working with Sandler was an unimaginable expertise.

“And, as you know, Sandler is the best. He’s the absolute best. I said to him, ‘Golfers, we play these Pro-Ams a lot on Wednesdays and you’re trying to coach the amateurs through.'”

“I felt like ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ for him was like a Pro-Am. He was producing, he was directing, he was acting, he was trying to coach us through what to do. It was a full-time job for him, but he’s a true pro.”

McIlroy praised Sandler, saying, “It was a lot of fun. It was definitely very cool to see those guys in their element, all the work that it takes to make a movie,” and echoed by world No. 1 Scheffler, who shared his enjoyment.

Scheffler mentioned: “It was a lot of work. It was pretty intense watching them set up the sets and kind of watching Adam Sandler do his thing where he’s acting and he’s helping with directing, he’s helping with all levels of the production.”

Scheffler added, “It was pretty cool to feel the environment on set. They had a lot of fun, but they were also very serious about what they were doing so it was definitely very cool for me to see.”

As McIlroy and Scheffler relished their Hollywood stint, their consideration now turns back to golf with the PGA Championship looming on May 15 at Quail Hollow, where McIlroy eyes one other main victory.
