Rowan Atkinson didnt enjoy Man vs Baby filming | TV | UK News
Man vs Baby has just arrived on Netflix and the four-part sequence is a follow-up to Man vs Bee, with Rowan Atkinson reprising his position as Trevor Bingley.
While he was a home sitter in the first sequence, Trevor finds himself trying after one thing a lot more treasured in Man Vs Baby, following his job as a faculty caretaker.
The hilarious festive sequence follows Trevor as he’s compelled to look after a child who had been enjoying the position of the infant Jesus in the college nativity, and had been left behind by his mom.
Following an early screening of the sequence, Mr Bean and Blackadder legend Atkinson was requested during a Q&A what his favorite scene was to movie.
His reply might come as a shock to some followers, as he said: “I have none, I can’t think of anything that I enjoyed filming.
“But that’s just me when I’m filming, so I apologise for that.” After taking some time to think, he still could not come up with a favourite moment from filming.
He was asked, “You are usually not ready to chill out, even now?” To which he replied: “I feel the show is superb, but I can also see holes in it. I keep pondering, hmm.”
The 70-year-old actor, comedian and writer has been known to be openly sceptical about his work, including his previous Netflix series, Man vs Bee.
During an appearance on The One Show, he had said: “I’m always glad when it’s over. I don’t actually enjoy the taking pictures, I enjoy the scriptwriting, we spent two years making an attempt to write the factor and compose the factor.
“I enjoyed the postproduction and the bit of shooting I got quite stressed about. I’m always convinced whatever I have done, I haven’t done as well as I could.”
He was later asked by an audience member about the future of the Man vs Baby franchise, to which he said: “Well there’s nothing in the cabinet at the second, the cabinet is naked. Literally no plans.”
The show’s co-writer, William Davies, interjected to say there are “many other issues”, but “Rowan relatively would never do something ever again, that is where we always start”.
The star admitted filming with a real baby for this series “wasn’t straightforward”, revealing: “You can only have a child on set for 45 minutes [a total of two hours a day] and a shoot day is eight or 10 hours so there are so many hours that you may’t really continue filming that scene.
“You have got to film a different scene, or a different shot, just looking the other way. The scheduling is tricky with babies.
“So now we have equivalent twins, the hero infants, and then we had twin crawling infants because the hero infants could not crawl. So that’s where the CGI comes in, when you implant the face of the hero child into the crawling child.”
