Royals period drama perfect for fans of The Crown | TV Shows

Netflix audiences searching for another royal collection to fill the void left by The Crown have a new option to get their repair.

Victoria, the three-season drama initially aired on PBS Masterpiece, is streaming on the Netflix platform and gives a detailed look at the rise of Queen Victoria, the ruler who preceded the fashionable period’s most recognizable monarch.

The collection follows Victoria, who got here before Elizabeth II, during the younger queen’s earliest and most adolescence. Starring Jenna Coleman, identified for her position on Doctor Who, the show blends historic storytelling with character drama.

The story begins in 1837, when 18-year-old Alexandrina Victoria unexpectedly ascended the throne after the death of her uncle, King William IV.

Although a number of male kin had been once forward of her in the road of succession, all died without official heirs, leaving Victoria as the only remaining option.

Reviews from viewers and critics counsel that the show might be a new favourite. One review states, “Victoria is worth your time, whether you adored Downton Abbey or not, and through the very hard work and dedication of Britain’s ITV has delivered PBS another gem to which you might devote your Sundays.”
