Secretary of State Marco Rubio appeared “visibly annoyed” as he fielded questions about Russia and Iran during a summit in the Philippines on Thursday.

He was requested by the press about a potential partnership between Iran and Russia, who would collaborate to assault U.S. troops.

“Rubio is visibly annoyed and uncomfortable, avoids solutions. He appears sad and keen to go away,” one X person wrote after videos went viral of the second Rubio shirked the press.

Conservative firebrand Laura Loomer chimed in, too, penning a scathing message slamming Rubio’s response to the query.

“Embarrassing moment of truth for Russia today during @SecRubio’s meeting with Sergey Lavrov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation when a reporter asked Rubio if he would press Russia today about working with Iran to target and kill US soldiers,” she said.

“Rubio was silent. Russia mocked the death of U.S. soldiers by saying, ‘Speak louder.’ We need to get serious as a country about having zero tolerance for the Islamic-communist alliance,” she added.

Rubio finally kicked the press out of the room after that line of questioning.

The secretary of state, who held talks with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in the Philippine capital, alluded to how U.S.-mediated talks have stalled. He called them “unsuccessful or at least unfruitful” in the past, but insisted that President Donald Trump was dedicated to the work “if conditions and factors have changed to make that possible.”

“That’s been the challenge — an end that both sides can accept,” Rubio told reporters. “We’ve tried and we’ll continue to try to see if we can, you know, find a middle ground that brings this about. And we’re prepared to play that role if the opportunity presents itself.”

Rubio met Lavrov and a number of other leaders, including China’s international minister, on the sidelines of an annual gathering by international ministers of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations in Manila.
