World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler was noticed testing out the simulators at SoFi Center, just days after opening up about his health struggles.

The Player of the Year and Ryder Cup standout is probably the most high-profile PGA Tour participant lacking from any TGL roster, largely because Scheffler has been battling a hand injury throughout the whole season. 

“Kind of getting my strength back and my body back where it needs to be,” Scheffler explained to Pat McAfee. “Going into this low season, I used to be making an attempt to get back in the health club, and do a lot more recovery stuff than I’d usually do. It comes after Scheffler equaled Tiger Woods’ tally with his latest award win.

“Last offseason with the hand injury type of set me back a little bit. And going into the 12 months, I felt like I battled a little bit more staying healthy than I’d have appreciated to.”

The Dallas resident sat out the debut season of Tiger Woods’ and Rory McIlroy’s TGL. The four-time major champion was all smiles as he nailed the green with a tee shot on the simulator, though he’s also acknowledged his absence from the competition.

Scheffler was notably absent from the star-studded indoor golf league featuring prominent names like Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay, Rory McIlroy, Keegan Bradley, and Max Homa. Yet, his recent presence on the simulator, combined with the league’s trademark filing for a Texas-based franchise—Scheffler’s home state—strongly suggests he may join the venture down the line.

TGL matches take place at SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, strategically scheduled between PGA Tour tournaments to avoid any calendar clashes. The inaugural TGL regular season drew an average of half a million viewers per match across ESPN’s platforms, accumulating 19.3 million total viewers.

Following the March showdown between New York Golf Club and Boston Common, both Bradley and McIlroy expressed enthusiasm about the competition.

“I’d actually need to run it back next 12 months,” McIlroy remarked. “I actually loved competing with these guys. But yeah, the great factor is that Keegan and I particularly live very close to right here, so we are able to hopefully pop in whenever we wish and get a little bit of further observe going into next 12 months.

“I think that’s the cool thing about this, as well, is you’ve got the semifinals in a couple weeks’ time and then the final and then it’s gone for nine months. Hopefully by the time January rolls around again, people are excited to watch it.

“After the next few weeks, we’ll let the major championship season kick in and clearly have people be tremendous in that, but January, February, March when there’s not a ton going on at nighttime, particularly up in the northeast, I feel it is a enjoyable factor for people to have the option to sit down and watch on a Monday and Tuesday evening.”
