Scott Jennings says Jimmy Kimmel insulted | TV Shows
Scott Jennings accused Jimmy Kimmel of being an “elitist” after the comic made a joke about the new Department of Homeland Security Secretary, Markwayne Mullin.
Kimmel made a joke about Mullin being a plumber while internet hosting his ABC show on Tuesday, March 24. “The now former senator of Oklahoma before he was elected to the Senate, Markwayne Mullin was a low-level MMA fighter and a plumber,” Kimmel said.
Jennings performed the clip of Kimmel’s joke before saying he’d moderately have somebody like Mullin in authorities than somebody just like the comic.
During the Thursday, March 26, broadcast of his show, which he titled Jimmy Kimmel Insults Working Class Americans, Jennings fumed, “Ask yourself this question. If you had to be governed by 100 plumbers or 100 sneering, elitist, broken-brained, know-nothing, hack liberal comedians in Hollywood, what would you choose?”
He insisted, “I know what I would choose. I’d take the plumbers, the working class, every single time.”
Jennings is not the only particular person to criticize Kimmel for his feedback. Donald Trump also slammed the comic and called him a “loser” during an look on Fox News.
Defending Mullin, the president said, “He had a very good record in fighting but, you know, that’s unimportant. But he is sort of a fighter. But more than you know. I call him country smart.”
Speaking of Kimmel, Trump added, “I’ve watched this guy. Yeah, he’s a loser.”
Despite going through backlash from MAGA followers, Kimmel doubled down on his feedback on his Thursday evening show. “The president and his pals in the MAGA media are not happy with me right now. Trump even called in to Fox to complain about me tonight,” he joked.
Kimmel continued, “His apple polishers are all in a tizzy because I made light of the fact that his new head of Homeland Security, Markwayne Mullin, before he was a senator, was a plumber. And now he’s the head of Homeland Security, which is not necessarily the kind of resume you might hope for, for the person in charge of protecting us from terrorism.
“Of course, they determined to twist that to say it was an insult to plumbers, which it was not.”
The TV host added, “I wouldn’t put a plumber in charge of Homeland Security for the same cause I wouldn’t call a five-star normal to pull a rat out of my toilet, okay? We all have our areas of experience.”
Kimmel accused Trump’s allies of “performative outrage” before adding, “I’m not upset that the top of Homeland Security used to be a plumber. I’m upset that he isn’t still a plumber.”
