A senior member of the Republican Party reportedly likened peace talks to a “hamburger stuffed with nothing” as tensions between the U.S. and the nation continue to escalate.

Speaking to N12News, reporter Barak Ravid said that President Donald Trump is inching slowly nearer to beginning a “very significant war” with Iran. “Sources in Washington tell me that President Trump is very close to giving an order to attack Iran, an attack that will amount to a very significant war, more significant and closer than the American public understands.”

“One of Trump’s advisers told me the following,” Ravid added. “The boss is dropping endurance. There are people around him who are warning against going to battle with Iran.”

According to Ravid, “there is a 90 percent chance that we will see military action against Iran in the coming weeks.” Ravid added that “military action in Iran is expected to be a large-scale campaign that will last weeks and will look more like a war and less like the operation in which the President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, was kidnapped.”

Ravid added that the American public doesn’t perceive that the potential operation will probably be “completely different” from the marketing campaign in Venezuela. “The same sources tell me that this is likely to be a joint campaign by the United States and Israel, one much broader in scope and more existential for the Iranian regime, even than the 12-day war last June.”

It was reported that “President Trump has not yet made a final decision on this issue, in part because such a large-scale war would affect his entire legacy and his three remaining years in office.” According to the reporter, two components would have an effect on the ultimate choice on whether or not to launch the assault.

“A senior American official tells me that the last round of negotiations in Geneva with Iran was a hamburger stuffed with nothing,” Ravid added. “Another senior American official tells me that Iran has until the end of February, that is, less than two weeks, to come up with a significant package of concessions regarding its nuclear program.”

“The bottom line on the political side, on the political side, is that there is currently no evidence that we are facing a political breakthrough with Iran,” he explained. “On the other hand, more and more evidence is accumulating at sea, in the air, and on land that war is closer than ever.”

Tensions between the international locations appear to have hit a new degree. Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s overseas minister, announced that the U.S. and Iran have reached “an understanding” on the main “guiding principles” in a second spherical of talks.

Iranian state TV had reported earlier that the negotiations could be oblique and would focus only on Iran’s nuclear program and not home insurance policies, including its bloody crackdown on protests last month. Araghachi wrote on Telegram: “Good progress has been made since the last meeting and we now have a clear path forward, which I think is positive.”

“No specific time was set, and it was agreed that the two sides would work on the texts of a possible agreement and then we would exchange these texts and then consider another date for the third round,” he added. “The roadmap does not mean that, but now we have a clearer picture of what needs to be done and what needs to be done further down the road. Of course, both sides still have positions that need to be brought closer together, but at least now we have a set of guiding principles and a clearer path to move along that path.”

Iran announced the short-term closure of the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday for live fire navy drills in a uncommon show of power as its negotiators held another spherical of oblique talks with the United States in Geneva over its disputed nuclear program. It was the first time Iran has announced the closure of the key worldwide waterway, through which 20% of the world’s oil passes, since the U.S. started threatening Iran and speeding navy property to the area. It marks a additional escalation in a weekslong standoff that might ignite another battle in the Middle East.
