Silent Witness issues release dates for new episodes | UK News
This month, Silent Witness made its return to tv screens after a 12 months’s absence, with BBC audiences welcoming back Emilia Fox and David Caves as Nikki Alexander and Jack Hodgson.
Relocating from London to Birmingham, the group is set to sort out a contemporary collection of horrific crimes for the pathologists and scientists to look at.
This week, viewers had been anticipating the second two-part instalment titled The Enemy Within to broadcast on Monday night (February 9). The episodes centre around a deadly stabbing that seems to have racial motivations, studies The Mirror.
A synopsis states: “As the investigation unfolds, and the team slowly uncovers evidence pointing to a likely suspect, racial tension rises all across the city.
“At the same time, Jack’s gymnasium buddies end up to be not the boys he thought they had been, while Kit begins to have doubts about her relationship with Magath.”
However, following a last-minute scheduling alteration, Silent Witness instead showed the opening instalment of an episode originally scheduled for later in the series, titled Creekwood.
According to the BBC schedule, The Enemy Within will now be shown on Tuesday, February 17 and Wednesday, February 18. The episode rescheduling follows the distressing incidents that occurred in Birmingham over the weekend.
In what is understood to have been a targeted attack, two teenagers, aged 14 and 15, were assaulted with a machete outside a shop and taken to hospital.
Following a violent incident that resulted in one individual being rushed to hospital with life-altering injuries and a 15-year-old being punched, West Midlands Police have confirmed the arrest of a 12-year-old boy on suspicion of attempted murder.
In light of these events, the BBC has made changes to its Silent Witness episode schedule. A spokesperson for the broadcaster told TV Guide: “Due to the assault in Birmingham over the weekend, this week’s episodes of Silent Witness won’t transmit as deliberate and instead they’ve been changed with two episodes from later on in the collection.”
The original episodes three and four, titled The Enemy Within, were replaced by episodes five and six, which focus on the death of an elderly man.
The synopsis for Creekwood reads: “Nikki and Jack are called to a construction web site to look at the physique of an aged man seemingly killed by a screwdriver impaled through his eye socket.
“The investigating officer, DI Ashley Moss, quickly gets a lead when she follows two homeless people who may have seen what happened. But the post mortem offers up further clues, and as more evidence is gathered, the team find themselves looking into the mental health system both past and present.”
Silent Witness is obtainable to watch on BBC iPlayer.
