South Korean megachurches investigate suspected cyberattacks exposing potentially 850K members | Latest Tech News

The personal data of tons of of 1000’s of people could have been uncovered following suspected cyberattacks on two South Korean megachurches.

Seoul’s Yoido Full Gospel Church and Sarang Church said they’re investigating the assaults, which may potentially have an effect on tons of of 1000’s of congregants.

Cybersecurity company Oasis Security said it found assault data and account info on an abroad server containing data linked to the 2 church buildings.

According to the company, data of the suspected assaults included indicators that artificial intelligence (AI) instruments could have been used during the cyberattacks.

Oasis Security pointed to references to “sub-agents” and intensive assault experiences that appeared to have been generated routinely.

On Wednesday, Yoido Full Gospel Church said an initial analysis revealed that data tied to 850,000 of its members could have been compromised.

The church said the data contains names and dates of beginning along with a smaller quantity of data containing national identification numbers, addresses and phone numbers.

Affected members are being notified by the church, which said it had also blocked exterior access and modified its server passwords.

Meanwhile, Sarang Church announced that it had shaped an emergency job pressure following the suspected cyber incident.
