Star Wars series ‘Andor’ returns for second and | TV Shows
Star Wars fans who loved Andor when it first aired in 2022 don’t have long to wait for the second season.
Available on Disney+ today (April 22), the new Star Wars series is the final in the prequel to ‘Rogue One’ and sees twelve new episodes landing for fans to get stuck into. The show is expected to pick up where season 1 left off, which ended with Andor (Diego Luna) helping close confidant Bix (Adria Arjona) in her daring escape from Empire-controlled Ferrix.
Not long after that, a final meeting between Andor and Luthen (Stellan Skarsgård) shows just how much Andor has evolved from being a rebel loner. However, TV fans that were hoping to bingewatch all twelve new episodes might be disappointed as the new Disney series will air slightly differently.
The new show, led by longtime Star Wars creative Dave Filoni, will follow Darth Maul as he leads a crime syndicate during the Empire era.
According to Filoni, Maul will train a dark side apprentice, a pink and red-skinned Twi’lek who closely resembles Darth Talon, a character from the now non-canon Star Wars Legends. Sam Witwer returns to voice the menacing Sith, with the series expected to debut in 2026 on Disney+.
A teaser clip, shown exclusively at the event, gave fans a glimpse of Maul training his new apprentice – and sparked immediate debate online. However some fans expressed cautious optimism, pointing out the animation division’s strong track record with shows like The Clone Wars and Rebels.
Andor will return on Disney+ on April 22.
