Stephen Colbert slams JD Vances response to | TV Shows
Stephen Colbert has slammed JD Vance after the vice president responded to the release of racist messages from a Young Republicans group chat.
On his October 15 show, Stephen called out the 41-year-old for supposedly downplaying the offensive messages, as Vance said, “Kids do stupid things, especially young boys,” despite people in the chat being aged up to 40 years old.
The messages, of which there are reported to be 251 offensive ones, said remarks such as, “I like Hitler,” “Everyone that votes no goes to the gasoline chamber,” and “I’d go to the zoo if I needed to watch monkeys play ball,” when talking about an NBA playoff game. The messages were leaked after Fox News turned on Vance.
During his show, Stephen slammed Vance’s comments, who first defended the group chat on X, and then again on a new episode of The Charlie Kirk Show.
Speaking about his remarks, Colbert said, “It’s true. When I used to be in Cub Scouts, about 10 years previous, me and my troop invaded Poland.”
“One downside with Vance’s logic right here about the younger boys… Despite their title, Young Republicans, to be a member of the group, you have got to be at least 18, and some members are up to 40 years previous,” he continued. “Because nothing says younger like getting your first routine colonoscopy.”
Colbert then slammed the “I like Hitler” message, remarking, “This one’s powerful to spin,” adding, “‘What? I used to be speaking about Pete Hitler and his honky-tonk bluegrass band. You’re telling me there’s another Hitler? What did he do?'”
The late-night host also mentioned the number of messages leaked, saying “2,900 pages of texts” had been seen by Politico, who broke the story.

“These Young Republicans also textual content each other an array of slurs, jokes about enslavement, disparaging feedback about Jews, ladies, Black people and other minorities,” Colbert explained.”And they knew it was dangerous because one of them also texted, ‘If we ever had a leak of this chat, we might be cooked.'”
The 61-year-old then specifically mocked one of the Young Republicans, Bobby Walker, who spoke out after the texts were released. The New York Young Republican Chairman said, “Portions of the chat might have been altered, taken out of context, or in any other case manipulated,” to which Colbert responded with, “That’s not an apology. That’s like saying, ‘Your honor, I plead guilty… to wanting great in this orange jumpsuit.”
