The president of Texas A&M University announced his resignation following a controversy over his handling of a youngsters’s literature course recognizing more than two genders, the college’s Board of Regents announced Thursday.
President Mark A. Welsh III’s resignation comes after the course’s lecturer, Melissa McCoul, and two other directors had been fired over the scenario, which spurred national headlines after a pupil filmed herself arguing with the lecturer.
In the now-viral video, the coed talked about the Trump administration’s declaration to crack down on gender ideologies that acknowledge more than two genders.
“President Welsh is a man of honor who has led Texas A&M with selfless dedication,” Texas A&M Chancellor Glenn Hegar said in a assertion.
“At the same time, we agree that now is the right moment to make a change and to position Texas A&M for continued excellence in the years ahead.”
Dr. McCoul was fired earlier in the month. She is presently interesting the choice, accusing the college of violating her constitutional rights, according to her attorney.
