Texas Senate Passes Redistricting After Democrats | Political News

As we reported earlier in the week, the Texas House handed the invoice on the redistricting maps that Democrats had been making an attempt to block for weeks, including by fleeing the state and breaking quorum.

The next step for the invoice was the Texas Senate, and on Friday, the Senate finally voted on the invoice.  But the Democrats pulled out one closing determined stalling tactic.

State Senator Carol Alvarado, the chief of the Senate Democratic caucus, vowed to filibuster the invoice for as long as she may. How off the rails was she? She even bought a catheter put in so that she would not have to stop to go to the toilet, according to studies.

Texas Democratic state Sen. Carol Alvarado announced plans Friday to filibuster a Republican-led redistricting invoice — and while she’s holding the ground, she received’t be holding it in.

Alvarado, 57, prepped for what may very well be a marathon speech by having a catheter inserted and attaching a urine bag to herself, according to a number of retailers

The Houston-area Democrat even bought a “long blue flowered dress to hide the bag,” the Washington Post reported.

She said it was “going to be a long night” and she’d been “prepping for a few days.”

Ah, Democrat theater children, they’re one thing else. It’s so dumb when you may’t stop it – it is just a waste of time, it is efficiency for their base. But it seems that wasn’t all, according to the Republicans.

Republicans then accused Alvarado of making an attempt to fundraise off the filibuster. Here’s State Sen. Charles Perry, who said it was unprecedented and that it violated the traditions of the Senate. He said doing that was thus holding State workers at work for marketing campaign fundraising.

Perry argued that it “appears to be potentially unlawful, at least unethical, using state resources for a campaign purpose.”

So Perry then moved the query, calling for the ultimate vote. His movement prevailed. Then they moved on to the vote on the invoice. There had been 18 ayes and 11 nays, so the invoice for the redistricting maps finally handed.

It must be famous that the Texas House Democrats had been fined and are also being charged for the prices concerned in responding to their actions.

It is believed that the redistricting will increase the Republican seats in the U.S. House by 5, which can be vital to Republicans sustaining control of the House. The Democrats have promised to problem the Texas motion in court. The wails and lamentations of the Democrats shall be one thing else, so let’s escape the popcorn and take pleasure in.
