Tiger Woods‘ future stays shrouded in uncertainty after the 15-time major champion underwent his seventh back surgical procedure just lately, and he’s now plummeting to a new low in the world rankings.

Woods revealed he had gone under the knife this month, insisting: “I already know I made a good decision for my health” with a close buddy outlining his ambitions before he finally calls time on his profession.

He shared particulars of his most latest back injury on Twitter, stating: “After experiencing pain and lack of mobility in my back, I consulted with Doctors and Surgeons to have tests taken. The scans determined that I had a collapsed disk in my L4/5, disk fragments and a compromised spinal canal.

“I opted to have my disk changed yesterday, and I already know I made a good resolution for my health and my back.”

As his injury layoff continues, Woods keeps sliding down the world rankings and is now positioned below the world’s top 2000 golfers, sitting at 2,048.

Woods was slated to compete in the season opener of the TGL in January.

He informed his teammates and fans that he would be there on January 13, but never guaranteed he would be swinging a club.

He is scheduled to return to action next year, and will hope to mount a challenge for his sixth Masters title and Green Jacket.

But the latest tumble is a new low, considering he was world No. 1 for 683 weeks of his career.

The longest uninterrupted stretch he held the world No. 1 spot was 281 weeks. The last time he held the world No. 1 ranking was in May 2014, and the world ranking system operates on a two-year cycle.

If he doesn’t make an appearance on the course before the 2026 Masters, he could potentially fall out of the ranking system entirely.

A close friend of Woods’ told the Daily Mail amid his ongoing absence: “He’s not silly. He is aware of issues are winding down, and he is coming to phrases with it. He’s turning 50 this 12 months.

“He won’t retire but he’s slowing down,” the source elaborated. “He wants to do at least one more major and to perform well in it. He wants to end the career with a bang, not a whimper. But right now, we’ll have to see.

“He desires to push himself until there’s nothing more he can do,” said Woods’ friend. “It relies upon on his recovery if he is there yet or not. Seems fairly probably that he’s.”
