Today audio cuts out as megastar wishes Amanda | TV Shows


Amanda Seyfried celebrated her fortieth birthday by selling her upcoming film, The Housemaid, alongside Sydney Sweeney.

The actresses appeared on the TODAY show on Wednesday morning after the New York City premiere of the psychological thriller directed by Paul Feig and based on the bestselling novel by Freida McFadden.

The Oscar-nominated actress rang in her birthday during her early morning TV look as TODAY meteorologist Al Roker stunned the star with a birthday cake from Magnolia Bakery. She even obtained a cellphone call from her mega-famous Mamma Mia! co-star, which was awkwardly cut off due to a technical glitch.

To rejoice Amanda’s fortieth, Al Roker introduced out a pink cake with sprinkles and inexperienced icing from the New York City staple Magnolia Bakery. “I’m just going to eat it right now,” she joked.

TODAY host Willie Geist, who was interviewing the actresses, said, “One other thing, I know you made a very dear friend shooting Mamma Mia 2, and she’s on the phone right now and wanted to wish you a happy birthday.” The Mean Girls star and music legend Cher collaborated on the sequel to the Broadway musical adaptation of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again! in 2018 as Sophie Sheridan and her grandmother, Ruby Sheridan, respectively.

“Are you there, ma’am?” Willie requested, as the enduring singer got here on the road, “Yeah! Hey babe! How are you?”

Amanda, grinning from ear to ear, greeted her co-star and pal with a heat “Hey, Grandma!” referring to their on-screen relationship, “I love you!”

The 79-year-old hitmaker greeted her, “How are you?” Amanda responded, “I’m better now. I miss you.” The actress beamed with pleasure as the Strong Enough singer said, “Baby, I wouldn’t get up for anybody this early.”

The actress responded, “I love you so much,” as Cher started to converse again, saying, “I have to tell you something, I am a huge fan of the show. I don’t see this part I -” before the audio abruptly cut out due to a technical glitch.

“Did we lose Cher? Right before she was going to sing, too,” the TODAY host joked during the awkward on-air blunder. Seconds later, Cher’s audio cut back in, and she could possibly be heard laughing.

After being requested if she would sing Happy Birthday to Amanda live on the air, the singer politely declined, explaining, “You know what? I just came from the doctor yesterday, and I am not in my best voice, okay? So no, baby.”

Amanda quipped, “You sound pretty damn good to me,” as the Burlesque star wished the mom of two a completely happy birthday before hanging up the shock call.

The Housemaid, starring Amanda Seyfried and Sydney Sweeney, premieres in theaters on December 19.
