President Donald Trump is reportedly contemplating increasing U.S. navy operations in Iran as tensions in the Middle East increase once again.
Trump reportedly held a assembly on Tuesday with senior administration officers in the Situation Room to focus on seizing the very important Kharg Island and other territory along the Strait of Hormuz. He also reportedly mentioned bombing a tunnel advanced at Pickaxe Mountain, a website with ties to nuclear supplies that has not been focused by the U.S.
Tuesday’s discussions had been the latest in conversations Trump has held in current days with his close allies on future strikes on the Iran struggle. Among the senior officers whom Trump has spoken with are Vice President JD Vance, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine.
Interestingly, Kharg Island has been on Trump’s thoughts in current days, highlighting the significance of the territory amid the continued struggle. During an interview with Fox News, President Trump gave combined messages on the chance of invading the territory, which is Iran’s main oil export hub that processes roughly 90% of the nation’s crude exports.
“I’d say no, if I thought it was appropriate. Sometimes you need a ground campaign, but we have other people that will do the ground campaign for us,” Trump said on whether or not he would rule out a ground marketing campaign on the island.

Almost immediately after, however, Trump said that he “would” assault the very important area, though he said he’d spare the elements where oil is situated.
“We already hit Kharg Island, as you know, twice, even three times. I said hit everything but the oil. Just leave that little area from 25 yards out. Leave that little area. Don’t touch the oil. Because I don’t want that in terms of the world economy,” he said.
“You know, it’s a chunk of the world economy. So we haven’t hit that. At some point we could. But I think it’s unlikely. As far as taking it is concerned, if we degrade them far enough and deep enough back, I would do that.”

Possible escalation comes amid restored Strait of Hormuz blockade
Trump’s interview comes as the U.S. navy said Tuesday that it has reimposed its blockade of Iranian ports in response to Iran’s assaults on business ships in the Strait of Hormuz, as the interim ceasefire deal unravels and issues grow about a return to all-out struggle.
The U.S. first imposed the blockade in mid-April and then lifted it in mid-June, a day after the signing of the interim deal aimed at completely ending the struggle. The deal set a 60-day timeline to also negotiate an settlement on Iran’s nuclear program, but talks have stalled as combating over the Strait has intensified.
When U.S. President Trump announced the return of the blockade on Monday, he also said he would impose a 20% payment on ships passing through the strait. But he dropped the plan to gather charges hours before resuming the blockade, citing requests from allies in the Gulf.
The interim peace settlement was supposed to reopen a waterway that is key to world power provides and give negotiators time to hammer out a everlasting end to the struggle. Instead, combating has once again engulfed the area, threatening the global financial system.
The U.S. carried out another wave of strikes forward of reimposing the blockade, the U.S. navy’s Central Command said. Iran’s deputy international minister for legal and worldwide affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, said in an interview aired Tuesday by IRIB, Iran’s state broadcaster, that the U.S. was looking for to forestall Tehran from exercising what he described as “effective sovereignty” over the strait.
Hours after the blockade was reinstated, Iranian state media reported an exchange of fire in the strait without offering particulars. Adm. Brad Cooper, who leads U.S. Central Command, said in a assertion that Iran had launched dozens of missiles and drones at neighboring Gulf nations.
