Donald Trump’s antics could come across as entertaining, which to some could also be helpful, and to others a hindrance, relying on who’s trying.
Daily Express US spoke to Ron Torossian, chairman and founder of 5W Public Relations, who says the president is aware of what he’s doing, and advises him not to stop, or he’d be like any other politician and lose the public’s consideration.
Torossian argues Trump is not dropping control of the narrative, or his schools — instead, the habits is a calculated tactic. As he explained: “The ‘resting my eyes’ line isn’t a gaffe. It’s the move. It’s human.”
“It’s the kind of thing your uncle says at Thanksgiving. Half the country saw themselves in that response,” said Torossian, who went on to add, “The other half wrote 1,200-word think pieces about it. Guess which half showed up in November.”
“The ‘resting my eyes’ line isn’t a gaffe. It’s the move. It’s human.”

Trump has been noticed falling asleep at high stakes occasions at least 4 to 5 instances since the start of the yr, but the president isn’t fazed by the criticism, neither is Torossian, with the PR exec suggesting it makes him relatable.
Critics could attempt to paint a image of a “clown” — but according to Torossian, just because a communication model is unfamiliar doesn’t imply it’s unserious.
“There’s a wide gap between how he’s covered and how he’s received, and that gap is the entire story of the last decade of American politics,” he said.
“Every cycle, the same operatives, pundits, and consultants explain why this time he’s done. Every cycle, they’re wrong. The error isn’t in the data — it’s in the disrespect,” he added. “They keep mistaking unfamiliar communication for unserious communication.”
On the flip facet, Kristen Meinzer, an award-successful podcaster, tradition critic, royal watcher, lifestyle journalist, and creator, shared her take on the matter.
“There has always been a divide in the U.S. (and around the world) over whether Trump is a charismatic truth teller with no filter or a loudmouth bully with diminishing faculties,” said Meizner. “For those in the former camp, I think seriousness is beside the point.”
“They see him as someone who tells it like it is, without the jargon or assumed gravitas of seasoned politicians. For those in the latter camp, I think the lack of seriousness is scary,” she added. “They see him as someone whose antics distract from administrative decisions that are terrifying — like kidnapping foreign leaders, taking military actions against U.S. citizens, and unlawfully starting international wars.”
From the surface trying in, mocking Trump could appear to be a loss of political capital, but to Torossian, these viral moments convey in {dollars}.
“Being underestimated is a strategic asset. He uses it on purpose Every ‘gaffe’ is a free news cycle. Every viral moment is a million dollars in earned media that his opponents have to pay for. Anyone in PR who’s worked a campaign knows what that’s worth,” he said.
With Torossian being a seasoned PR executive who started his own company, we asked him if he had any advice for the president, with him saying not to change a thing, because it’s working.
“This is going to sound counterintuitive coming from someone who runs a crisis communications practice, but my honest professional advice would be: don’t change a thing,” he explained.
These moments — unlike any moments ever seen before — are what make Trump stand out from the rest.
“The edges are the brand. The minute he starts sounding like every other politician, he loses what got him there,” said Torossian. “Trump is, whether you love him or hate him, the most retrievable political figure of his generation. The communications industry will be studying that playbook for the next 20 years.”
“Trump doesn’t like people who disagree with him.”
On a similar yet different note, Meinzer says Trump is giving out Weekend at Bernie’s vibes when it comes to his daytime cat naps, which she expanded on.
“At this point, Trump seems to vacillate between being a Weekend at Bernie’s trope,” said Meinzer, “i.e., he’s barely alive, falling asleep everywhere, and being held up by his minions).”
And when it comes to his late-night time Truth Social posts, it makes her assume of a grandpa who has had enough web.
“And a ‘grandpa, that’s enough internet for the day’ meme (all-caps tweeting, losing track of what he’s saying mid-sentence, and yelling about how things were better in his day),” she added.
When it comes to doling out advice, Meinzer did have some suggestions, which she shared: “I think the only way to improve his image at this point would be to bring experts into his inner circle who are willing to disagree with him.”
“It needs to be people who are less obsessed with power than his current cabinet, and more obsessed with the higher ideals of the U.S. (aka liberty and justice for all),” said Meinzer. “But historical past has shown that Trump doesn’t like people who disagree with him, so the probability of this form of enchancment plan being enlisted is less than zero.”
While Torossian and Meizer are looking at the same topics and their assessments may overlap, their takeaways are much different.
This is actually eye-opening when considering about how people can look at the precise same moments and have fully different reactions, which can help clarify why the American public is so divided over the Trump administration.
