President Donald Trump gave a worrying response when a reporter requested him if he still trusted Vladimir Putin during a press convention with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“I will let you know in about a month from now”, replied Trump.

During Trump’s hour-long speech at the UN General Assembly on Tuesday, he focused Russian chief Vladimir Putin for his “bad leadership”, issuing recent threats of “powerful tariffs” on Moscow.

He said Russia‘s battle in Ukraine is “making them look bad” because it was “supposed to be a little skirmish”.

“It shows you what leadership is, what bad leadership can do to a country. The only question now is how many lives will be needlessly lost on both sides,” he added, alleging that Russian forces have been killing between 5,000 and 7,000 younger troopers “on both sides every single week”.

Trump also said that he believes Ukraine can win the battle and take back all the misplaced territory. He made the remarks after assembly with Zelensky.

The remarks are a shift from his earlier stance that Zelensky “doesn’t have the cards”, arguing that time is just not on Ukraine‘s facet and that Russia is profitable the battle. He also urged Zelensky to make territorial concessions to Russia to attain a deal that would end the four-year-old battle.

“After getting to know and absolutely perceive the Ukraine/Russia Military and Economic situation and, after seeing the Economic trouble it is causing Russia, I feel Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is in a position to fight and WIN all of Ukraine back in its original form,” Donald Trump wrote on his Truth Social account shortly after assembly Zelensky.

He added that “with time, patience, and the financial support of Europe and, in particular, NATO, the original Borders from where this War started, is very much an option.” Trump also called Russia‘s navy “a paper tiger” and said that Russians don’t absolutely know the extent of the financial destruction that Putin has prompted.

“Putin and Russia are in BIG Economic hassle, and this is the time for Ukraine to act. We will continue to supply weapons to NATO for NATO to do what they want with them,” Trump added.

Donald Trump met with Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the eightieth UN General Assembly session. The assembly was their fourth since Trump returned to workplace in January and comes amid rising tensions between NATO and Moscow over Russian aerial incursions into allied nations as the U.S push to broker peace in Ukraine has stalled.
