UFC fighters react to Jon Jones' retirement, | MMA News

On Saturday, UFC president Dana White introduced that former UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones had formally retired, then just hours later, information broke that Jones was dealing with expenses stemming from a troubling incident in New Mexico.

A report by the Albuquerque Journal says that Jones allegedly fled the scene of an accident, leaving behind a lady who was “exhibiting signs of significant intoxication and lacking clothing from the waist down.” The lady claims she was with Jones, ingesting and doing mushrooms, and he was driving the car. The police declare they spoke to somebody on the cellphone who recognized himself as Jones and he “appeared to be heavily intoxicated and made statements implying his capacity to employ lethal force through third parties.”

Jones tweeted after the information broke, “Keep in mind, even the media can get it wrong sometimes if they don’t have all the facts. Don’t believe everything you read online.”

Many fighters reacted to the retirement information and did not acknowledge the controversy surrounding it.

Some used the second to call for a battle with Tom Aspinall who is now the undisputed champion.

No UFC fighters commented on Twitter about the controversial expenses, but loads of UFC followers weighed in on them, and the timing of the retirement.
