Vanna White names the celebrity who left her | TV Shows
Vanna White has been part of Wheel of Fortune for over four decades, sharing the screen with Pat Sajak and meeting countless celebrities.
Now, White has revealed the one person who left her truly speechless after years in Hollywood.
The TV personality says music icon Stevie Wonder left her “starstruck.”
“I was starstruck by Stevie Wonder,” White said in an interview reported by Closer. “I was sitting in the makeup chair, and he walked into the room. And I just was like, ‘Wow, it’s Stevie Wonder.’”
Though it’s rare for White to be caught off guard by a celebrity, she said Wonder wasn’t the only one to leave a lasting impression. “Mr. Rogers — he was the sweetest, sweetest man. And one more. It was Mickey Mantle,” she added.
Before joining Wheel, White made several other appearances on screen. She was once a contestant on The Price is Right and had minor film roles.
“When I was in the third grade, I had my appendix taken out, and I was at home watching this show called The Rat Patrol,” White said.
“My mother was in the kitchen cooking. She turned around and said, ‘That’s your uncle on TV.’ I said, ‘What? I have an uncle on TV? I want to be on TV!’ So, it started in the third grade. It worked out.”
Her uncle was actor Christopher George, who played Sgt. Sam Troy on the World War II series. One of his co-stars was Eric Braeden, now known for The Young and the Restless.
That early exposure helped spark White’s career path, which ultimately led to her own star power.
