A haunting video appears to show a sniper working from the roof of the Losee Center at Utah Valley University after taking pictures Charlie Kirk during a Turning Point USA event on Wednesday.
Kirk, a conservative political commentator was pronounced useless after he was shot by a sniper while delivering a speech for Turning Point USA on Wednesday at Utah Valley University.
Donald Trump confirmed the news on Truth Social on Wednesday, writing, “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead.” The shooter is believed to still be on the run. Andrew Kolvet, Kirk’s spokesman, also said Kirk has died.
“No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!” he added. Footage later emerged that appeared to show a gunman fleeing the roof of the Losee Center on campus.
Kirk, 31, was shot by a sniper at the event, who was believed to be perched at a vary of 200 yards. Orem, the small metropolis where UVU is situated, is about 40 miles south of Salt Lake City. It boasts a population of just under 100,000.

Witnesses describe horrific scene as Kirk shot and killed
KUTV reporter Heidi Hatch wrote on X that she was covering the event, which took place at Utah Valley University, when shots rang out.
“Oh my God my son was just at the Charlie Kirk event on UVU campus said photographs had been fired Kirk might have been shot. My son is working,” she wrote.

A man whose daughter was at the event said she also saw him being shot in the neck. “Charlie Kirk was just shot at UVU while talking. My daughter was in the gang and noticed it. He was shot in the neck. Pray for him and the scholars who are there,” he wrote.

Campus on lockdown as suspect on the loose
A screenshot of a UVU alert indicates that the shooter was apprehended. “UVU Alert: A single shot was fired on campus toward a visiting speaker. Police are investigating now, suspect in custody,” it reads.
A later one confirmed that the shooter has not, in fact, been apprehended, and that the authorities are still looking for the culprit.
Accounts from witnesses and family members on X said students were barricaded in rooms on campus as a lockdown remained in place.
Another UVU alert said the campus is closed until further notice. It reads, “Campus closed until additional discover. Ongoing police investigation. If you might be still on campus comply with police direction.”
Charlie Kirk’s last words revealed
Kirk was discussing gun violence when he was shot, speaking about the mass shootings in America over the past 10 years.

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox issued a statement of his own on X, first asking for prayers for Kirk before writing a second one: “I just bought off the cellphone with President Trump. Working with the FBI and Utah law enforcement, we are going to convey to justice the person accountable for this tragedy. Abby and I are heartbroken. We are praying for Charlie’s spouse, daughter, and son.”
Former President Joe Biden issued a assertion on X, too: “There is no place in our nation for this form of violence. It must end now. Jill and I are praying for Charlie Kirk’s household and family members.”
