It is day six of Wimbledon 2026, and followers watching the match on BBC seem to have observed one thing “odd” at the end of a match — and it has nothing to do with the gamers themselves.

A BBC Sport interview ignited a social media debate as viewers noticed a peculiar on-camera observe.

One fan posted online: “Wimbledon – BBC still have Covid distancing in on court interviews. Most odd.”

Another viewer questioned: “Why does the interviewer at the end of the match stand six feet away from the winner for a post-match chat? Is this a throw back to Covid?”

The BBC Sport presenter appeared to be standing roughly an arm’s size away from the tennis participant, who had just accomplished an exhausting match.

A 3rd joked: “Maybe the players just smell after such long games.”
