A heartbroken brother has revealed that his twin sister succumbed to a treatable cancer after their anti-vaxxer mom influenced her to reject important chemotherapy.
Gabriel Shemirani shared the tragic story of his sister, Paloma, who tried to heal her non-Hodgkin lymphoma with a coffee-based remedy endorsed by Belle Gibson, a infamous proponent of pseudoscience who falsely claimed to have battled cancer herself.
Tragically, the choice remedies have been ineffective, and the 23-year-old graduate of the University of Cambridge handed away after her tumors brought about her to choke.
“That’s the most difficult part, because you’re trying to do everything in your brain to think it’s not real, it’s not true,” Gabriel told The Sun.
“And every time you utter the words to someone else, that ‘Paloma is dead’ it feels like you’re being burned alive.”
Gabriel locations the blame squarely on their mom, Kate Shemirani, a former nurse with the National Health Service, for the loss of his sister.
Kate, 59, was stripped of her nursing credentials in May 2021 after she declared COVID-19 to be a hoax.
She notoriously labeled the NHS as “the new Auschwitz” in her online posts, where she continuously expressed her opposition to chemotherapy. On her personal web site, she styled herself as a “natural nurse.”
Now 24, Gabriel advocates for legal reforms to shield people from harmful health misinformation.

“I couldn’t save my sister, but there’s still time to save others,” he implored in his interview with the publication. “People are dying. This needs to stop.”
He criticized the system as “out of date” for permitting his mom, a girl “that’s killed her daughter,” to still be acknowledged as a nurse.
“I believe my sister was being coerced. It’s conspiratorial coercion when you convince her the elites are going to kill them, big pharma’s going to kill them, even the doctors at the hospital are going to kill them,” he asserted.
Kate Shemirani, who has confronted bans from Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, noticed her presence on X restored after Elon Musk‘s takeover.
She has rejected any culpability, instead pointing the finger at the paramedics who tried to save her daughter’s life.
Gabriel continues to grieve for his sister a 12 months following her passing.
“With a twin, they’ve always been there by your side,” he mirrored. “There’s so much that doesn’t need to be said because you already understand it – it’s almost like you have your own language. We were incredibly close – at no point did we ever fall out.”

Family Trauma
The twins endured a difficult upbringing. Their father, Faramarz, was a proponent of conspiracy theories, including the idea that 9/11 was an inside job.
Gabriel recounted how his mom discouraged him from utilizing sunscreen at age 9 and later prohibited the youngsters from consuming faucet water.
During an inquest in Maidstone, Kent, last week, Gabriel testified that his mom had been “emotionally distant” and bodily abusive during their childhood.
Kate was also recognized with cancer in 2012 and survived after having a double mastectomy, but says she survived after following various remedies, including the controversial Gerson therapy, which includes taking espresso enemas.
Belle Gibson promoted Gerson as a “cure” before it was revealed that she did not even have terminal mind cancer; however, Kate Shemirani common herself as a health guru like Gibson.
“I think she saw her way to get that attention she’d always craved,” said Gabriel.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Gabriel was the last sibling at the household home, but moved out to keep away from being quarantined with his mom.
But when Paloma was recognized with cancer in December 2023, she selected to live back at home with their mom.
Fearing that his sister would not settle for cancer treatment while dwelling with their mom, Gabriel selected to go to her on Christmas Day.
“I wasn’t able to have any meaningful conversation with my sister because she was out of it,” he said. “That was the last time I saw Paloma.”
The brother was barred from visiting his sister and instead despatched her messages begging her to attempt chemotherapy.
“For four or five months, I was living in constant fear that I was going to get that phone call from someone saying my sister had died.”
Paloma’s health was quickly declining, and she ultimately collapsed at her mom’s home on July 19, 2024. She was airlifted to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, where she “had declined to engage with conventional treatment,” according to Osteopath Nick Gosset.
Five days later, Paloma’s life-support machine was turned off, but Gabriel did not be taught of his sister’s death until six days later. Neither he nor his brother Sebastian have been informed about the funeral.
“She was cremated without our knowledge,” Gabriel revealed.
Now, he needs no contact with his mom, describing their relationship as “complete strangers. I don’t talk to her – I have no feelings for her.”
