Zelensky to wear military-style suit at Trump | Political News
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed up to the White House on Monday carrying a darkish military-style suit for his upcoming assembly with world leaders.
Zelenky, who has beforehand worn army-toned sweatshirts, polos, and military-style outfits, eschewed this and confirmed up to his assembly with Trump in a black suit before shaking palms with his U.S. counterpart. Speaking with Politico, one of Zelensky’s designers said the outfit was symbolic of his place as Head of State.
“This time the President [Zelenskyy] will be in a suit, but the style still remains in a military key with the same symbolism: he is the Head of State, which is at war,” said Elvira Gasanova, a Ukrainian businesswoman. “At the same time, it’s important to emphasize that it’s Volodymyr Zelenskyy who personally decides what to wear.”
“The President is now in a state where every detail matters — his appearance, mood, emotions,” she added. “Therefore, as the Leader of Ukraine, he chooses the image that best suits his role and moment.”
Zelensky’s fashion choices have been a constant source of criticism from President Trump and several other MAGA-based media groups. In February, the last time that he visited the White House, Trump sarcastically commented, “You’re all dressed up today.”
The Ukrainian president, who donned a black polo emblazoned with the Ukrainian coat of arms, was also slammed for his fashion choice by Brian Glenn from MAGA-friendly cable network Real America’s Voice.

“Why don’t you wear a suit? You’re at the very best stage in this nation’s workplace, and you refuse to wear a suit,” he demanded. Zelensky, however, had his answer ready.
“I’ll wear costume after this conflict finishes, yes. Maybe one thing like yours, yes, perhaps one thing better,” Zelensky retorted. It should be noted that the word “suit” translates to “kostyum” in Ukrainian.
In 2022, Zelensky vowed not to shave or wear a suit until the conflict in Ukraine was over.
