Janet Street-Porter confirms her Loose Women future | UK News

Janet Street-Porter has been half of the Loose Women panel since 2011, and is thought for being outspoken, brutally trustworthy, and witty. The 78-year-old has now opened up in an interview about her journalism profession, and ‘confirmed’ her future on Loose Women amid ITV’s cuts to its daytime schedule.

In May, ITV bosses introduced Loose Women’s run can be lowered from 52 weeks per 12 months to just 30. Janet instructed The Guardian: “I don’t agree with how they’ve done the cuts.” When requested by the publication if she is aware of whether or not she is going to keep her job on the show, she confidently replied: “Oh, I know I’m going to keep that job. Don’t waste your bl**dy time trying to get a scoop on that.”

The former newspaper editor stated the panel show has its distinctive operate. Janet expanded: “Women come up to me all the time. The issues we discuss resonate with them, whether it’s relationships or domestic abuse.”

The programme would not veer away from political points either, with the star saying she and her co-stars maintain MPs and Prime Ministers to account.

She mirrored: “Obviously, during the last election campaign, I decided to confront Rishi Sunak about freezing the tax threshold. Well, it scuppered his campaign, didn’t it?”

Her interview comes after ITV introduced it was axing more than 200 jobs and decreasing programmes such as Loose Women and Lorraine.

Loose Women star Nadia Sawalha instructed her YouTube followers after the information was introduced: “What’s been brutal, absolutely brutal, over the last week, honestly I feel tearful about it, is that hundreds of people… are going to be made redundant out of the blue, these are all the people behind the scenes that support us in every way.”

ITV boss Kevin Lygo acknowledged that the cuts will “impact staff” and confused that daytime TV is a “really important” half of its programming.

Loose Women airs on weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV and ITVX.
