Jamie Raskin Left Fumbling After Dan Crenshaw | Political News
Republican Rep. Dan Crenshaw (TX-02) introduced two Senate votes to GWN’s midterm postmortem Wednesday. One was on a invoice proscribing stock purchases by members of Congress. The other was on a invoice aimed at maintaining the associated fee of powering big AI data facilities off family electric payments.
Both handed the House. Senate Democrats blocked both from advancing, though 4 crossed over on the data middle invoice. Crenshaw argued Democrats did it to deny Republicans a win before Election Day.
Democrat Rep. Jamie Raskin (MD-08) began counting. Republicans had the House, the Senate, and the White House. Three for three. But then the Texas Republican requested him to depend votes. Both motions needed 60.
Dan Crenshaw accuses Jamie Raskin and Democrats of blocking bipartisan payments before the midterms, then betting they’ll help them once the votes are counted. “You guys blocked all of that because the midterms were coming. And I bet you’re gonna be in favor of it after the midterms.”

“Dude, do you understand how the Senate works? You need 60 votes. Do you understand that?”
The Stop Insider Trading Act, which the Trump administration backed, would have barred members from shopping for particular person shares. Only 13 House Democrats voted for it in July. It lined spouses, too, and got here with new reporting necessities. Come September 30, the Senate needed seven votes from outdoors the GOP to take up the invoice. Look down the roll call for a Democrat or an unbiased who said yes. There isn’t one. The vote was 53–47.
The voter ID language was already in the invoice when it handed the House. Senate Democrats called it a “poison pill.” They also said members of Congress ought to promote the shares they already held. I’m with them on that second level. But a senator who wished to buy more stock the next morning may go proper forward, thanks in half to the people insisting the invoice wasn’t powerful enough.
The next vote was on the Ratepayer Protection Act. It gave states a framework to stick big AI data facilities with their own energy prices. The grievance from Senate Democrats was that states may select whether or not to use it. A good criticism, if you’re making an attempt to get a stronger invoice handed. It sounds a lot less spectacular when the choice is nothing.
The invoice handed the House 417–3, then died in the Senate 57–43, three votes short of 60. Only Democrat Sens. Jon Ossoff (D-GA), Raphael Warnock (D-GA), Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), and Maggie Hassan (D-NH) joined Republicans.
Crenshaw said Democrats blocked the payments to deny Republicans a win, and guess they’d back them once the midterms have been over.
“You guys blocked all of that because the midterms were coming, and I bet you’re going to be in favor of it after the midterms. Do not lie and say anything different.”
From there, Raskin went after Trump’s funds, alleging he’d collected $2.2 billion in his first 12 months from overseas governments, royalty, and crypto pursuits. By the time he obtained to Lincoln, the electric invoice was a distant reminiscence.
“He’s dragged your whole party down. Abraham Lincoln created your party. Donald Trump destroyed your party, and you went down with it.”
After the interview, Crenshaw refused to back down, posting his full take on X:
Watch Rep. Raskin unravel when I level out what the GOP ought to have been doing all along: telling the reality. Democrats BLOCKED bipartisan laws on data facilities (drive them to pay for their own energy), and BLOCKED bipartisan laws to stop stock trading. Why? Because they wished to RUN ON THESE ISSUES IN THE MIDTERMS. Yes, it’s a traditional cynical political ploy, and the public nearly always falls for it. Smart politics? Yes. Ethical governance? Hell no. Raskin even admitted that he believed good coverage ought to take a back seat to good politics. That mentality disgusts me. Doing what’s proper for the nation issues more than profitable elections. My unbearable democrat colleague disagrees – or perhaps he understands it completely properly and just does not care. I’m not going to apologize for defending President Trump and American national security. And I’m not going to fake that shedding an election instantly makes those insurance policies unsuitable. And Republicans? Learn the proper classes. Yall f***ed up. Badly. You spent tons of of hundreds of thousands of {dollars} on transgender adverts instead of explaining why Democrats induced high costs and how Republican insurance policies saved people money on their taxes and scale back prices in the long time period. I’m defending Trump because his insurance policies are good for the long time period, not designed for short time period reputation. Perfect? No. But a hell of a lot better than the options. Double down on your agenda, Mr. President.

“Democrats BLOCKED bipartisan legislation on data centers… and BLOCKED bipartisan legislation to stop stock trading. Why? Because they wanted to RUN ON THESE ISSUES IN THE MIDTERMS. Yes, it’s a classic cynical political ploy, and the public almost always falls for it. Smart politics? Yes. Ethical governance? Hell no.”
He also claimed Raskin “admitted that he believed good policy should take a back seat to good politics. That mentality disgusts me.”
Back in March, Trump’s Ratepayer Protection Pledge requested the businesses building these services to decide up the full tab for the facility and infrastructure they need. That’s the query I’d need answered if a data middle have been going up close to my home. Who pays?
Democrats gained both chambers. When they take over, they’ll put their own payments on the ground. I’d start with the components they said have been too weak in September. Did they make lawmakers promote their shares? Did they get households a better deal on energy? If all they modified was the title at the top of the invoice, they’ll have made Crenshaw’s level for him.
Editor’s Note: President Trump is main America into the “Golden Age” as Democrats desperately attempt to stop it.
