Oklahoma Senator Markwayne Mullin (R) joined Maria Bartiromo on “Sunday Morning Futures” to talk about the newest developments relating to Senate efforts to affirm President Donald Trump’s nominees in the face of Democrat resistance. 

As Bonchie reported beforehand, Senate Republicans have (seemingly) discovered a lesson and determined to play hardball with the Democrats — and President Trump is having none of Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s (D-NY) shenanigans.

On Saturday, the Senate obtained 10 nominees confirmed, including Jeanine Pirro as U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, Andrew Puzder as Ambassador to the European Union, Brian Burch as Ambassador to the Holy See, and Jason Reding Quinones as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida. 

But the supposed “deal” Schumer wished to secure amounted to a “small tranche” of nominations in exchange for unfreezing funding and foregoing any further rescissions packages. Trump, as famous, mentioned “No deal” and inspired the Republicans to stroll away. 

Mullin defined to Bartiromo why Trump’s transfer was the correct one, and the next play is a rule change — which will be laid squarely at the ft of Schumer and the Democrats. He also provided a comparability as to where nominations stand now versus this time in 2017.

Laughable. The reality: Chuck Schumer tried to EXTORT President Trump for $1 billion {dollars} in liberal pet initiatives… even to pace up over 50 BIPARTISAN nominee confirmations.

Mullin also spoke to those on X who appear to be under the mistaken impression that Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) is in some way trying to thwart the nomination course of by coming into into the August recess without permitting for recess appointments, citing Trump’s Saturday Truth praising the Senate GOP for their efforts.

The takeaway right here seems to be that Senate Republicans have made severe headway on Trump’s nominations, but since the Democrats are hellbent on being obstructionists, when they return, they are going to get to lie in the mattress they made for themselves.
