Subject of Airport Boulevard chase dies from his injuries

UPDATE (Aug. 15, 5:50 p.m.): Mobile County Sheriff’s Office officers have confirmed that the subject of a car chase on Airport Boulevard on Thursday, Joel Fuller, has died from his injuries.

UPDATE (Aug. 14, 8:30 p.m.): News 5 has discovered more data about the crash on Airport Boulevard and Florida Street.

According to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, the Special Operations Division was looking out for Joel Fuller, who had an energetic felony warrant for second-degree home violence (strangulation). He was also needed for trespassing, harassment, and stalking, all misdemeanors.

Fuller was positioned by deputies close to Airport Boulevard and Williams Street. He fled down Airport Boulevard when deputies tried to stop him.

MCSO Units misplaced sight of Fuller’s vehicle during the pursuit. When they arrived at Airport Boulevard and Florida Street, it was found that Fuller’s vehicle had crashed into another.

Both he and the motive force of the other vehicle have been transported to a local hospital with critical injuries.

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Mobile Police Department officers, along with EMS and firefighters, are on the scene of a crash at Airport Boulevard and Florida Street.

The crash occurred around 6 p.m. and has triggered the eastbound lanes of Airport Boulevard to be blocked.
