Zelensky ‘counting’ on Trump to help Ukraine keep | Political News
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky appeared on Fox News’ Special Report, hosted by Bret Baier, after assembly with President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly session.
Baier requested Zelensky if he accepted dropping territories, as President Donald Trump said that any peace deal between Russia and Ukraine, if it comes, would contain Ukraine “losing some territories.” He requested Zelensky what concessions he was keen to make.
“Today, we had a good conversation with President Trump and I think he understands today that we can’t just swap territories”, said Zelensky in response. “It is not fair”, he continued.
Baier requested if Trump’s place had modified. “Yes, I think so and I really count on this, a continuation of his attitude”, the Ukrainian president replied.
“I think it is not about territories. It is about the position of Putin. He will continue, it will give him more than he really wants.”
Zelensky said that to stop the warfare, Putin’s ambitions have to be stopped. “To change his position on this war.”
After assembly Zelensky on Tuesday Trump said that he believes Ukraine can win the warfare and take back all the misplaced territory.
The remarks are a shift from his earlier stance that Zelensky “doesn’t have the cards”, arguing that time will not be on Ukraine‘s facet and that Russia is profitable the warfare. He also urged Zelensky to make territorial concessions to Russia to attain a deal that would end the four-year-old battle.
“After getting to know and totally perceive the Ukraine/Russia Military and Economic situation and, after seeing the Economic trouble it is causing Russia, I think Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is in a position to fight and WIN all of Ukraine back in its authentic kind,” Donald Trump wrote on his Truth Social account shortly after assembly Zelensky.
During Trump’s hour-long speech at the UN General Assembly on Tuesday, he focused Russian chief Vladimir Putin for his “bad leadership”, issuing contemporary threats of “powerful tariffs” on Moscow.
He said Russia‘s warfare in Ukraine is “making them look bad” because it was “supposed to be a little skirmish”.
“It shows you what leadership is, what bad leadership can do to a country. The only question now is how many lives will be needlessly lost on both sides,” he added, alleging that Russian forces have been killing between 5,000 and 7,000 younger troopers “on both sides every single week”.
