Charlotte Church was brutally murdered at the start of episode 5 of The Celebrity Traitors. Last week, followers had been left on tenterhooks after the episode ended on a dramatic cliffhanger, with Charlotte, Kate Garraway, and David Olusoga all at risk of turning into the next sufferer.

Charlotte’s demise follows the earlier homicide of Ruth Codd and the banishment of Clare Balding, both eradicated after coming dangerously close to unmasking Jonathan Ross as a Traitor.

When the ultimate two celebrities, Kate and Jonathan Ross, entered the breakfast room, it turned clear to everybody that Charlotte had been murdered.

Turning to Celia Imrie in shock, Stephen Fry exclaimed: “How wrong we are!”

The evening before, Traitors Jonathan, Alan Carr, and Cat Burns secretly agreed to homicide Charlotte in a calculated transfer to deflect suspicion from themselves.

“I thought I was going to be murdered,” Charlotte bluntly admitted after studying she had develop into the latest sufferer.

Explaining why, the singer said: “I’m outspoken at the roundtable and I’m outspoken with my opinions. Not that I was successful in being much of a threat to the Traitors. But as the game progressed, I hope that I would have been and I hope that’s why they have gotten rid of me.”

“Well played, Traitors,” Charlotte added.

Reacting to the news at breakfast, Nick Mohammed exclaimed: “That’s mad!” To which Mark Bonnar responded: “That’s utterly insane.”

“What a surprise. I never saw that coming,” Stephen quipped as Celia agreed.

Viewers immediately took to social media to react to the choice, with many insisting it was the flawed one.

One fan wrote: “Think this time #TheTraitors made a mistake. If they heard that the Faithfuls suspected CHARLOTTE of being a traitor, they should’ve chosen some1 that Charlotte was gunning for or someone who targeted Charlotte. I wanted Kate to leave tho.”

“eliminateing charlotte is a very dumb move,” another viewer agreed as a third fumed: “Charlotte Church is a national treasure! Shame on the traitors.”

Another echoed: “But wasn’t there sceptism over Charlotte? It’s going to hugely backfire on Jonathan, I feel it in my waters.”

A fifth added: “The traitors made a mistake killing Charlotte, she would have been banished.”
