The gunman accused of taking pictures two National Guard members in Washington, D.C., last week, killing one and severely injuring the other, shouted “Allahu Akbar” while he fired his weapon, court paperwork allege.
Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29, stands accused of taking pictures West Virginia National Guard members Specialist Sarah Beckstrom and Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe in broad daylight.
Beckstrom, 20, finally died from her accidents on Thanksgiving Day, while Wolfe stays hospitalized in crucial condition.
Lakanwal, who emigrated from Afghanistan in 2021 following the U.S. army’s pullout and labored on one of the CIA’s “Zero Units,” was charged with first-degree homicide while armed for Beckstrom’s death as he attended a listening to in his hospital mattress.
D.C. prosecutors have been at his bedside as they read out the fees. He pleaded not guilty to all the fees.
Lakanwal is being held under guard at the hospital while he recovers from gunshot wounds incurred forward of his apprehension following the taking pictures.
A legal grievance hasn’t yet been filed in federal court, but when it’s, U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro said she’s going to search the death penalty.
A lately launched image from surveillance video reveals Lakanwal ready outdoors the Farragut West Metro Station just a few blocks from the White House. He glances to the west, standing there for “about a minute” before operating in the direction of the intersection of seventeenth Street and I Street Northwest, per costs filed in Washington, D.C., Superior Court obtained by the New York Post.
Another video reveals him turning the nook at the intersection with his palms raised “in a firing stance,” court paperwork say, before he fires a number of rounds in the direction of Beckstrom and Wolfe, who can both be seen collapsing to the ground after being struck in the pinnacle, the affidavit reads.
After listening to the gunfire, another West Virginia National Guard member, who has only been recognized as Complainant Reynolds, reportedly drew his service weapon and exchanged fire with Lakanwal, who was struck and fell to the ground.

Reynolds said it appeared that Lakanwal’s firearm was empty and that he was making an attempt to reload it, at which level another National Guard Major, recognized in information as only “W-1,” jumped on the suspect and subdued him.
Lakanwal was arrested and taken to the hospital.
It’s not yet clear when he’ll face trial, nor when an official grievance shall be filed.
