Sony grabbed control of Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang in a new mega-deal that provides the company access to the well-known group of characters for its films, video video games and other content.
The Japanese leisure giant, a main participant in film manufacturing and video video games, pays more than $450 million to double its stake in Peanuts Holdings to 80%, according to The Wall Street Journal.
The company is shopping for the stake from Canadian leisure company WildBrain, which also owns the Teletubbies and Strawberry Shortcake manufacturers.
