Piers Morgan says Andrews treachery threatens | TV Shows

Piers Morgan has weighed in on Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest, calling the previous Prince “treacherous” and a “threat to the monarchy.”

On Thursday, February 19, the morning of his 66th birthday, Andrew, the brother of King Charles III and the eighth in line to the British throne, was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public workplace, according to studies.

Shortly after the news of Andrew’s arrest broke, Fox News‘ Fox & Friends acquired Piers on the telephone for an intensive dialogue, in which the 60-year-old English broadcaster said, “This is treacherous, treasonous behavior by a man who is the brother of the King of the country now.” This comes shortly after King Charles broke his silence on Andrew’s arrest, saying, “The law must take its course.”

At the start of Fox & Friends’ dialog with Piers, Brian Kilmeade requested, “Did you ever think it would come to this?”

Piers replied, “Do you know, I was beginning to fear it might, but when it actually happens, it’s an absolute bombshell. To put this in context, there has been no member of the royal family arrested in my lifetime.

“I’m 60 years previous. You have to go back centuries to the last time that a member of the British Royal Family was arrested, and this is a severe matter.”

Piers continued to explain that if Andrew is convicted of misconduct in public office, the maximum sentence is life in prison.

“This is the King’s brother who stays eighth in line to the throne,” the TV personality added, “So this is a bombshell.”

Lawrence Jones then asked Piers about Andrew remaining in the line of succession, despite having his royal titles removed. Andrew is considered a royal by birth, but he’s no longer a working royal. So, he is simply a private citizen now.

Formally removing Andrew from the line of succession would require an Act of Parliament and the consent of 14 other Commonwealth realms, which has not yet occurred.

Piers replied, “Yeah, I do know it sounds perposturous, but that is the current state of play.” He added that he thinks it’s “fanciful” that he would ever succeed to the throne, and that his place in the line of succession will likely be “ruled out anyway by the sequence of occasions.”

Piers added, “I believe it is important to make clear right here that the arrest is just not in connection with something to do with the intercourse scandal involving Epstein. This may be very particularly about his conduct when he was a commerce envoy, which is a authorities appointment.

“He was acting on behalf of the country for about a decade, in which he traveled around the world as a kind of business envoy for the country, and during that period, we now know from the leaked Epstein files, he was giving Epstein, remember a convicted pedofile, he was giving him the information, top secret information as a trade envoy.

“This is treacherous, treasonous conduct by a man who is the brother of the King of the nation now. So, these are very severe allegations.”

Fox & Friends’ Ainsley Earhardt asked how serious Andrew’s arrest is and what it means.

Piers replied that Andrew was Queen Elizabeth II’s “favourite son,” a claim that has been reported repeatedly. “There are going to be very troublesome questions for the Queen,” Piers added, noting that Queen Elizabeth II reportedly contributed approximately £7 million (around $9.49 million) toward the estimated £12 million settlement of then-Prince Andrew’s 2022 inappropriate abuse lawsuit with Virginia Giuffre.

The broadcaster then added what Andrew’s arrest means for the other senior members of the Royal Family, noting that some of them may have witnessed Andrew’s “treacherous conduct.”

Piers said, “It’s more and more possible, I might say, that other senior members of the Royal Family are going to have to also be interviewed by the police.

“So this just might be the tipping point of a gigantic scandal which represents, I would argue, an existential threat to the monarchy itself. It is that serious.”

King Charles III reacted to his brother’s arrest on Thursday in a assertion launched by Buckingham Palace.

“I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office,” the King said.

“What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities.

“In this, as I’ve said before, they’ve our full and wholehearted assist and co-operation. Let me state clearly: the law must take its course.”
