Fiery Pete Hegseth issues 13-word verdict on | Political News

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has waded into stories of a disagreement between President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance over the Iran battle.

During a press convention on Friday, Hegseth threw his assist behind Vance, stating that “the vice president, every single day is a key voice in that.” The Secretary of War also called Vance an “indispensable voice” in the Trump administration.

“He’s an incredible member, leader of this team as well, alongside the president and secretary of state,” Hegseth told reporters during a briefing at the Pentagon. “I can’t say enough great stuff about this workforce, how it really works together, how it gives choices to the president.”

“And the vice president, every single day is a key voice in that,” he added. Hegseth’s show of assist comes amid claims the vice president has spoken out against a extended battle in Iran and that he was skeptical of the operation.

On Monday, it was reported that President Trump said that Vance was “maybe less enthusiastic” at the start of the battle. Now, the president claimed that he and his vice president “get along very well on this.”

“He was, I would say, philosophically a little bit different than me,” Trump continued. “I think he was maybe less enthusiastic about going but he was quite enthusiastic.”

The vice president also tried to dismiss rumors that he and the president weren’t seeing eye-to-eye.”There’s just no way that Donald Trump is going to allow this country to get into a multiyear conflict with no clear end in sight, and no clear objective,” said Vance while on Fox News.

“What is different about President Trump, and it’s frankly different from Republicans and Democrats of the past, is that he’s not going to let his country go to war unless there’s a clearly defined objective,” he added. “He’s defined that objective as Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon and has to commit long-term to never try to rebuild its nuclear capability.”

“It’s pretty clear. It’s pretty simple, and I think that means that we’re not going to get into the problems that we’ve had with Iraq and Afghanistan,” Vance added. In a 2023 op-ed in The Wall Street Journal that’s garnered renewed consideration after the Iran strikes, Vance wrote that Trump has his assist because “I know he won’t recklessly send Americans to fight overseas.”

On the day of the strikes, which started early morning Saturday, Feb 28, Vance told The Washington Post there was “no likelihood“that the U.S. would grow to be concerned in a drawn-out battle as it did in Iraq.
