Pushing for foster care program reform, she added, “We are expecting young people to achieve self-sufficiency without providing them the support to do so. That’s why each of these bipartisan reforms to the Chafee program matters. Foster youth are not broken, we are ready. But readiness is not the problem, access and having people in our corner is.”

After she completed her remarks, Committee Chairman Jason Smith (R-Miss.) requested that the press go away before they continued their roundtable dialogue.
