She was one of the BBC cleaning soap’s most well-known faces, taking part in Sue Osman for 4 years, but her off-screen life was even more dramatic as that of her character.

Sandy Ratcliff tragically died in April 2019 after taking an extreme quantity of morphine during her battle with two terminal lung situations. It was a tragic ending for a proficient actress who had also spent 20 years battling a heroin habit, the BBC stories.

From a star on screen and her days as a model, it appeared unthinkable a life in the limelight would lead such turmoil for one girl, but she went through enough powerful experiences to scar anybody.

From 1985 to 1989, Ratcliff appeared on EastEnders as Sue Osman, who was the long-suffering spouse of cafe proprietor and mini-cab boss Ali Osman. During her time in the cleaning soap, her character dealt with heavy storylines such as cot death, infidelity and, in her remaining episodes, a mental breakdown.

Meanwhile, in her real life, Ratcliff was battling a heroin habit which had gone on to turn into public data and noticed her go away the show in 1989.

But even before her heartbreaking exit from the BBC cleaning soap, Ratcliff had already confronted some hardship before she turned a well-known face. Even as a youngster, it was clear the actress had a troubled youth after being expelled from faculty at the age of 12 and having been reported to have closely smoked hashish as a younger teen.

She was using it as she had used drugs for many years. She died from a combination of two naturally occurring terminal conditions and an excess of morphine.”
