A Platneresque Democrat Scandal Hits WI Governors

Though it is troubling on one hand, on the other, you just have to chuckle at Democrats and the lengths they will go to in order to attempt and thwart the need of the people in their get together when it comes to nominees for public workplace.

One instance that immediately comes to thoughts, of course, is how then-President Joe Biden was handled by get together “leaders” after his disastrous June 2024 debate efficiency. As CrimsonState readers will recall, he was primarily compelled out of the race three weeks later, and then endorsed his veep, Kamala Harris, who went on to turn into the Dem nominee and then misplaced bigly to Donald Trump.

The other is Graham Platner, who initially appeared like a Teflon candidate who might actually get away with something in the 2026 Maine Senate main, including sexism, racism, homophobia, alleged home abuse, spousal dishonest, and so on. As it seems, there may be another Democrat contender for public workplace who it was just not too long ago found has some Platneresque issues of his own. For institution Democrats, the timing could not be worse because – as CrimsonState reported – the supposedly “electable” candidate, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, was satisfied to re-enter the Wisconsin governor’s race just days in the past after beforehand dropping out. 

Why did they get him to bounce back into the race? Because Democrat Party leaders in the Badger State have been terrified DSA state Rep. Francesca Hong, who is gaining in recognition among Democrat voters, would win the August 11 main – and then lose to GOP Rep. Tom Tiffany (WI-07), the Trump-backed presumptive GOP nominee. And former Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes, the other Dem candidate in the race after current Lt. Gov. Sara Rodriguez exited under a cloud of marketing campaign finance questions, is taken into account “too progressive.”

As to the self-inflicted scandal Crowley and the state’s Democratic management now discover themselves in, listed here are some of the deets (language warning):

Crowley told us the account was set up in half to promote a membership called the Onyx.

Here’s one space where this scandal differs a bit from the varied Platner Reddit post controversies: Platner took possession of what he wrote (though he claimed he was a “different person” now). But the Gov. Tony Evers-backed Crowley and his marketing campaign are saying that though he had access to the account in query, he did not write the offensive posts:

And yet NBC News solid doubts on those statements, noting that some of the posts have been written in first particular person and have been clearly about Crowley:

Crowley, who was working for [Democrat Sen.] Russ Feingold at the time, says others shared the account. But it repeatedly refers to him in the first particular person, contains his selfie, his initials, says “this is my twitter page where I loosen up the tie and bring out the bottles!! Ya dig!” and states, “I can’t really have my face out there when i’m representing #DWightman!!”

Also, as the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel noticed, the bio for the X account reads “A different side of me…,” which does not sound like an account run by “10-12 people.”

The account is still lively as of this writing, and contains other embarrassing gems, like this one:

Now, right here is what I believe is the “tell” that Crowley is… not being trustworthy about who ran that account. Notice how both he and his marketing campaign have been cautious to observe that the posts have been from “a decade and a half ago.” Why would that matter besides to downplay their current significance, as if to indicate “Even if it was something I wrote back then, I’m not the same person today”?

That can be one thing important for Wisconsin voters to know, and to consider. But even if there was a method to affirm the posts have been certainly written by him, I might see a state of affairs where Crowley claims he was “young and foolish,” one thing we noticed play out to some extent in a Utah Democrat House main. But Crowley was a grown man in his early to mid 20s when that stuff was written, so that excuse would not essentially fly.

In any event, it stays to be seen how this performs out among Democrat voters and those same institution Democrats who rushed to pull Crowley back in to attempt and save the day.
