EVERYBODY WANTS TO F–Ok ME

If you suppose the title sounds messy, wait until you see the movie.
British writer-director Jonathan Schey’s bluntly named “Everybody Wants to F—k Me,” which had its annoying and overlong world premiere Friday night time at the Toronto International Film Festival, is a semi-thriller containing one joke that falls aside nearly the second it’s cracked.
Lest you still be intrigued, I can guarantee you the title is the only real provocative factor about it. And fairly soon, what all people really desires is to stroll out.
Taron Egerton’s Adam is one of those guys who’s conspicuously thoughtful and attentive to women. An unimaginable fantasy of romance novels. Handsome and match, his shelf is crammed with books about feminism, he works at an all-female artwork gallery in London and is laughably delicate.
“On behalf of the entire male population, I just want to apologize,” he says with a straight face to a bewitched member of the alternative intercourse.

Of course, Adam’s real mantra is “love ‘em and leave ‘em.” He’s a textbook lothario, and his nice-guy act is all half of a successful strategy to mattress as many women as he can, and it really works every time. Until in the future when it really works manner too properly.
He wakes up confused and delirious after a one-night stand in which he was roofied, and discovers that women are now looking him down in a feral method — chasing him on the road like rabid animals. He can’t escape them. Everybody desires to, properly, you already know.

It was around then when Schey’s movie unleashed my claws. The abrupt modifying and its dry humor layered atop suspense, “F–k Me” play like a wannabe Edgar Wright movie (“Hot Fuzz,” “Last Night in Soho”) only without the intention of being sensible or, frankly, coherent. Or maybe that was the intention and the dart just hit the wall.
Without the blazing charisma of Egerton, at once a main man and a quirky character actor, this tedious movie would have no purpose to exist. A professional at comedy, Egerton’s shocked expressions make for a few enjoyable, fleeting moments. But the proficient star of “Kingsmen” and “Rocketman” is way too good to be trapped in what is principally “Bad Man.”
It’s plainly clear that, in the estimation of Schey, Adam is getting his just deserts. How dare he sleep around! The Greek fable of the untamed satyr — sexy goat dudes — performs a big half, which on the half of the filmmaker, exhibits delusions of mental grandeur on a monumental scale. Adam is in contrast to one of those actually horned canines.

The major narrative query, though, is “how exactly did this happen to Adam?”
Schey has choppily pasted together a sequence of escalating conditions, including a couple of taboo ones, en route to the reply while wrongly assuming our laughter will ramp up along with them. Adam’s quest to resolve the thriller of his pheromonal affliction is static and silly.
No one believes him, and he descends into what seems to others as insanity, like he’s claiming to have been kidnapped by aliens. His pals, like his lesbian bestie Emma (Charly Clive) are weirded out. How else is one supposed to react when a individual says, with the out-of-breath terror of being pursued by a serial killer, “Everybody wants to f—k me.”
The movie stays on that exhausting gear until the disappointing end.
The final decision is such a letdown. Insects are concerned. It is at the same time apparent and nonsensical, and as unsatisfying as a drunken one night time stand. Like the worst of those, the entire expertise is best forgotten.
