Andy Burnhams latest move is worrying – it will be | UK News


Andy Burnham‘s appointment of the new Energy Secretary has sparked concern, with one political commentator believing the implications will be “catastrophic”. Burnham, who took over from Sir Keir Starmer as Prime Minister, has appointed MP Miatta Fahnbulleh as Energy and Net Zero Secretary, with Ed Miliband moved to the place of Foreign Secretary.

It marks the start of Burnham’s tenure as the chief of the Labour Party, with the Prime Minister already finishing up a major Cabinet reshuffle. However, his determination has come under fire on TalkTV, with presenter Kevin O’Sullivan and visitor Philip Kiszely expressing concern over Fahnbulleh’s appointment. O’Sullivan described her as a “hard left, globalist, climate change zealot”, arguing she will make Miliband “look like a moderate”.

Expanding on Fahnbulleh’s background, he continued: “She’s the former head of the new economics foundation, an organisation that campaigned for Britain to have a green new deal, including spending two percent of our GDP on net zero climate policies.

“She pushed for corporations to switch possession into employee control funds. She did not need people who created the businesses to run them, she wished the staff to run them.”

The presenter declared: “She’s going to be worse than Ed.”

The political commentator immediately agreed, branding Fahnbulleh “the stuff of nightmares”.

He remarked: “You don’t need zealots or extremists wherever close to authorities. You just don’t need web zero wherever close to authorities. You definitely don’t need a cupboard minister dealing with it.”

He described Fahnbulleh as an “excessive, left-wing nutter”, insisting this is a matter that needs to be taken seriously.

Kiszely added: “I used to be considering about Andy Burnham’s document in Manchester, it’s getting clearer by the day and it’s a actually horrible document. Also, in phrases of who he is appointed, I anticipated him to take away all the Starmer people.
