Former concrete plant site could become West…
A long-planned 34-story house tower that can be the tallest building in West Hollywood has been authorised by the Planning Commission as town maneuvers to add housing on its east facet.
The more than $400-million high-rise with outlets and eating places at avenue degree is set to rise on La Brea Avenue on the site of a former concrete plant that served Los Angeles for more than a century before closing in 2024.
West Hollywood officers endorsed the weird scale of the deliberate project by Los Angeles developer CIM Group as half of town’s push to comply with state necessities demanding more housing.
If authorised by the City Council, the advanced at 1000 N. La Brea Ave. can have 514 models including 128 models set apart to rent at reasonably priced charges for residents with decrease incomes.
In addition to the 34-story tower, it should have a linked 17-story high-rise with a swimming pool on the roof.
City zoning usually restricts business buildings to about seven tales, so “some people are a little bit surprised” by the near-skyscraper scale of the tower, said Lina Lee, a managing director at CIM.
The current tallest building in West Hollywood is the 31-story Sierra Towers, a luxurious condominium building on town’s western border with Beverly Hills courting to the Sixties that has long been a superstar hang-out.
“It’s been done before,” Lee said, and the deliberate high-rise can be like a “bookend” on the other end of town.

A metropolis workers report said the tower “represents a substantial benefit to the community in the form of much-needed housing units for households of varying income levels” and strikes town nearer to assembly state-mandated objectives for new housing.
CIM estimates that the building could home 1,000 residents.
To help make the project financially possible for the developer, town endorsed promoting on the building in the shape of 5 static shows and one full-motion video billboard. The metropolis is to accumulate a share of the promoting income from the billboards.
The tower is to fill the West Hollywood portion of the previous Cemex Hollywood Concrete Plant site, which straddles town border with Los Angeles.
On the L.A. facet of the property, CIM is building a two-story workplace and retail building going through Sycamore Avenue that is almost full.
Sycamore Avenue is the guts of Hollywood’s burgeoning Sycamore District, which incorporates upmarket boutiques, eating places and artwork galleries that have sprung up in the previous industrial district.
It’s also a media hub with places of work and studios for companies including Sirius XM, Spotify, Sony Music Publishing and Jay Z’s Roc Nation.
If the West Hollywood City Council approves the La Brea tower, CIM would start preliminary development work with the intention of breaking ground late next yr or in early 2028.
