Arturo Gatti Jr, the son of famend Canadian boxer Arturo Gatti, has tragically handed away at the age of just 17. The unhappy news was confirmed by mates in social media posts on Wednesday. According to French-speaking Canadian community TVA Nouvelles, he was in Mexico with his mom Amanda Rodrigues before his premature death.

The first reviews of this heartbreaking news got here from Chuck Zito, a household pal and former bodyguard of Gatti Sr, who shared an Instagram post on Wednesday. He wrote: “It’s with a heavy heart that I have to say,…. R.I.P. to 17-year-old ARTURO GATTI JR. My condolences to Arturo Gatti Senior’s Mum, Sisters, Brothers, and his daughter Sophia.”

Moe Latif, a long-time coach, was reportedly due to journey to Mexico, where Arturo Jr and his mom have been staying, this week. However, that didn’t occur as he posted on Instagram: “It is unfortunately not a rumour or a joke. Arturo is gone.”

Tributes from the boxing group have been pouring in over the last few hours, with many reflecting on his boxing potential and the legacy of his household.

However, there have also been considerations about the troubling experiences he was uncovered to at such a younger age, including attending his father’s funeral, which was attended by a whole lot.

Gatti Jr had been making an attempt to forge his own path in the game following his father’s tragic death in 2009.

He had loved a storied profession in Boxing with championship titles gained in two divisions and quite a few memorable bouts.

His trilogy with Irish-American skilled boxer Micky Ward is especially synonymous with his legacy, along with fights against Tracy Harris and Gabriel Ruelas. Gatti Jr unsurprisingly adopted in his father’s footsteps, first lacing up a pair of gloves at the tender age of six.

Despite his younger age, he has already shown promise in a number of newbie bouts in the Montreal space. Gatti Jr was born just under a 12 months before his father’s tragic death in Brazil.

The iconic boxer was discovered dead while on vacation in the South American nation in 2009, accompanied by his spouse and son. Rodrigues, who found his physique, was initially arrested on suspicion of homicide but was later launched when authorities ruled it as suicide.

However, controversy continues to encompass his death more than a decade later, with many close mates and members of the family refusing to settle for the speculation that he took his own life.
