Awkward moment Reforms Robert Kenyon is asked to | UK News


Reform UK candidate Robert Kenyon has sparked backlash minutes into the latest instalment of Question Time. On Thursday (June 4), Fiona Bruce returned to the helm of a particular version of the BBC politics show forward of the Makerfield by-election. But moments into the late-night show, Green Party candidate Sarah Wakefield quizzed the previous plumber about his feedback in direction of the formerCountdown star.

Last week, Mr Kenyon confronted criticism after “disgusting” historic posts he made about the mathematician resurfaced online. Vorderman later posted a video in response to the feedback, branding him a misogynist and demanding an apology from him.

It did not take long before the subject got here up on the politics programme, when the Green Party candidate asked him to apologise to the TV star live on air. She started: “I actually spoke to Carol Vorderman this morning because she is really distressed that you have failed to apologise for any of these comments about her specifically.

“She is watching at home tonight, and I ponder if you may look down that digital camera and say to Carol, ‘You know what? I’m sorry’. Can you do that?” He replied with: “Do you realize what? People could have in all probability seen what’s been said, but I’ve not really said something to Carol.

“I commented on a comment. Don’t get me wrong, it was a disgusting comment that somebody else had written, but I commented on a comment.” Fiona then interjected, clarifying: “It was with approval?” to which he replied: “It was a crass joke and it’s not something I’d say now. It was a long time ago.”

Ms Wakerfield fumed: “Every woman in this room and at home has been subject to shaming, whether in person or online.” Mr Kenyon chimed in: “And that’s disgusting”, to which she snapped back with: “It is. I think you’ve just proven my point. Can you believe this? Honestly, we have all been subjected to it, and the fact that a man like you cannot sit and do a simple apology, I think, is disgraceful.”
