Bachelor fans fume as NBA game disrupts season | TV Shows

Fans of The Bachelor weren’t exactly impressed with the premiere of Grant Ellis‘ Season 29 but some were still annoyed that ABC allowed it to be interupted by a NBA game.

When fans in Charlotte, North Carolina, tried tuning in to watch Grant meet his ladies, there was a match between the Charlotte Hornets vs. the Los Angeles Lakers airing instead.

Fans took to X, formerly Twitter, to complain about the mix up, even as those who could watch noticed that Grant’s premiere felt different from previous Bachelor Nation seasons.

One person wrote: “How many women in Charlotte are having a meltdown right now because the Hornets game is on WSOC and not the Bachelor?”

A second added: “I can’t get it on the Hornets game is playing om the channel even though it says The Bachelor on the guide! Help!!!!!”

“Watching based on nostalgia just doesn’t seem worth it anymore. We are way past the days of this being an event. And wow…the rest of season highlight reel at the end looked so boring.

“It’s no longer a weekly show to look forward to— just another show to check in with when I remember.”

One fan agreed, pointing out: “after charity and joeys seasons, which were like a breath of fresh air after years of decline, i had hope that the show was finally moving in the right direction.

“they felt fresh and fun. then i didn’t even make it through jenn’s season. it’s looking more like joey and charity’s seasons were an anomaly and not indicative of a new chapter for the franchise.”

A second added: “I’m in the same boat lol. Last season I watched was Joeys, just because I heard it was good. There are so many romance reality shows and formats they have to compete with now (and on streaming services), and even those get tired after a season or two.”

A third said: “I just watch Bachelor Fantake on YouTube and see if I get invested enough to start watching.”

A fourth commented: “I’ve been saying this for a while but ever since Elan left, the show just hasn’t been worth watching. We get bright spots every once in a while… but after last season and choosing to cast the vile person that is Devin, I don’t even see the point in watching anymore.”

Yet another fan pointed out: “I honestly think the influencing killed it. It used to be easier for us to pretend that they were there ‘for the right reasons.’ Now it’s so painfully obvious and it’s hard to get excited by it.”

Another view agreed, penning: “I agree. like, the girl with the bob that made him take pics of her felt to me like she just couldn’t wait to use them to boost her socials after the premier aired to post that she was on the show.”

Besides the premiere being bland, fans took issue with Grant handing out kiss after kiss during his many one-on-ones.

One even joked that the premiere was sponsored by Chapstick. The person wrote: “This episode of the #bachelor is brought to you by chapstick.”

Another questioned: “The Bachelor triggering me rn bc why is this the first episode and he deadass kissing all of them,” as a third pointed out: “Grant h—y as hell.”
