Bridgerton fans are fuming at Netflix after a promised sneak peek of the show’s fourth season went awry.

Eager fans worldwide had registered in advance to tune into the January 14 event and first episode livestream. However, due to technical glitches, many had been left unable to access the event. Originally slated for a 5.30pm GMT start, the livestream was delayed by an hour due to these unexpected points on Netflix’s end.

Attendees acquired an e mail apologizing for the hiccup, stating: “Apologies for the technical difficulties… Our sincere apologies for the delay. Please stand by, the Bridgerton Season 4 Premiere Masquerade: A Livestream Event will be live soon on Tudum.com.”

The delay and technical issues sparked frustration among fans who took to Instagram to vent their disappointment. One disgruntled viewer posted: “Dear Bridgerton, with the ton of the season would have be nice with the technical issue to have a bit more time or a link to watch the first episode for people who waited 1:30hour and coudnt wait more on be right back gutted I was in and couldn’t watch please @bridgertonnetflix give us the livestream review access to be able to catch up [sic].”

One disgruntled viewer vented: “it never ended up working. basically waited all day, refreshing until it said thanks for attending smh. @netflixtudum @bridgertonnetflix you owe us those GIVEAWAYS [sic].”

Another echoed the sentiment, saying: “Same! I couldn’t watch, it never worked” while another chimed in: “SAME! ! ! I agree that those that rsvp’d and had our time wasted and should get a 1st ep link or something [sic].”

A Bridgerton fanatic expressed their disappointment: ” @bridgertonnetflix what a horrible experience today. Signing up for something you’ve been waiting years for and your site crashing for hours thus leading to so many people like myself not being able to wait around and then missing the first episode. I think it is only fair for those that signed up to receive access to the first episode be given that first episode. You really should drop the first episode due to what happened today. Not well done at all.”

Despite the technical hiccups, some fans managed to catch the episode and took to X to share their reactions. One fan shared a snippet of Benedict Bridgerton’s (portrayed by Luke Thompson) initial encounter with Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha) at his mom’s masquerade ball.

On X (beforehand recognized as Twitter), one viewer gushed: “I can’t get over their first meeting” while another noticed: “Kinda genius that their first questions to each other-‘What is your name?’ And ‘Why did you rescue me?’ also double as their thematic statements for the season [sic].”

One viewer likened the show to a beloved Bridgerton spin-off, gushing: “I love the pure fairytale vibes… this felt like when I watched queen charlotte!
