Donald Trump has been briefed on the mass taking pictures at Brown University in Rhode Island.

Writing on Truth Social, the president said FBI brokers are on scene at the campus in Providence, where a number of people are understood to have been wounded.

Trump said in the assertion Saturday night: “I’ve been briefed on the taking pictures that came about at Brown University in Rhode Island. The FBI is on the scene. God bless the victims and the households of the victims!

He described how the suspect is now in custody, though this has not yet been confirmed by authorities.

University officers initially told college students and employees that a suspect was in custody, before later saying that was not the case and that police have been still looking out for a suspect or suspects, according to alerts issued through Brown’s emergency notification system.

Police didn’t immediately release particulars about the quantity of victims, their situations or the circumstances of the taking pictures.

The Ivy League college issued an energetic shooter alert and urged college students and employees to take shelter during the second day of remaining exams.

The reported taking pictures occurred close to the Barus & Holley building, a seven-story advanced that homes the college’s School of Engineering and physics division. According to the college’s web site, the building contains more than 100 laboratories, dozens of lecture rooms and places of work.

Students have been urged to shelter in place as police responded to the scene, and people have been told to keep away from the world. A police officer warned media to take cowl in automobiles because the world was still an energetic scene.

Officials cautioned that data remained preliminary as investigators labored to decide what had occurred.

Police have been actively investigating and still gathering data from the scene, said Kristy DosReis, the chief public data officer for the town of Providence. The FBI said it was helping in the response.

Brown is a non-public establishment with roughly 7,300 undergraduate college students and more than 3,000 graduate college students. Saturday was the second day of remaining exams for the autumn semester.
