Legendary coach Butch Harmon guided Tiger Woods to eight of his 15 major championships, and now he may be contemplating taking on a recent Woods project.
The {golfing} icon, who boasts 82 PGA Tour victories, is presently mentoring his son Charlie as {the teenager} seems to carve out his own path in skilled golf. Harmon labored with Tiger for 11 years between 1993 and 2004, during which the celebrity dominated the game for 638 weeks as world No. 1, but Tiger is now sidelined following back surgical procedure in October while his son weighs up his school choices.

However, 16-year-old Charlie Woods could soon be searching for coaching steerage as he launches his profession, having secured his maiden AJGA triumph in 2025 at the TaylorMade Invitational.
Speaking to SiriusXM, Harmon revealed he would contemplate working with the promising teen, stating: “I don’t know if I’d take it on as a full-time. I’m sure my curiosity would make me damn sure to do it one time just so I could see the kid, because I’ve never seen him play, and he’s got the right last name, so I’d want to take a look at it, that’s for sure.
“Obviously, if he requested me to do it, I might be more than pleased to do it. I’ve never had the chance to see Charlie play. I used to be speaking to Rickie [Fowler] about it a couple weeks in the past, when we have been taking part in down in Florida.
“He played with him, and he says he’s gotten bigger and hits the ball really far now, and he’s going to be a good player. So yeah, I would love to have the opportunity to see it up close and personal. And I’d like Tiger to be there when it happens because we would have some fun with that.
“I’d like to needle Tiger and say, ‘When you have been that younger, you could not do it like he’s doing it.’ And you understand what his reply can be to me. I am unable to say it on the cellphone!”
Woods’ high-school golf mentor at the Benjamin School believes the young athlete’s dedication sets him apart from his peers. “He’s grown up a lot in three years, and I believe he is going to be even better next yr,” explained head golf coach Toby Harbeck. “He needs to be good. And that would not fall far from the tree.”
Harbeck noted that Woods resembles his legendary father in virtually every way. “It’s so unfair to evaluate,” Harbeck observed. “But he is received all the instruments… he’s a lot more pushed than a lot of children I’ve seen.”
