Canelo Alvarezs brutal admission to his kids | Boxing News

Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, the Mexican boxing legend, has made it clear to his kids that his staggering £220million fortune is his alone. The 35-year-old faces one of the most tough bouts of his profession on Saturday night as he takes on Terence Crawford.

The former four-weight world champion, who is one of the highest-earning athletes in historical past, lately signed a five-fight deal with Turki Alalshikh, chairman of the Saudi General Entertainment Authority (GEA), reportedly value £300m. The first of these fights can be an undisputed tremendous middleweight championship bout against Crawford on 13 September. Crawford is aiming to grow to be the first male fighter to be named undisputed across three weight lessons in the four-belt period as he steps up two weights to face Alvarez. The bout takes place in Las Vegas on Saturday night, and is anticipated to start at around 3:00am on Sunday in the UK.

It’s predicted that by the end of this contract, Alvarez, who is undefeated at super-middleweight, will see his whole profession earnings skyrocket to an spectacular £750m, but not a penny of this will go to his kids.

The 63-2 fighter, whose web value is estimated at £220m by Celebrity Net Worth, has told his kids – Emily Cinnamon Álvarez Beltrán, Mía Ener Álvarez Quiroz, María Fernanda Álvarez Gómez and Saúl Adiel Álvarez Sepúlveda – not to anticipate a handout.

In a latest interview with Miguel Gurwitz, via 25MedioTiempo, Canelo acknowledged: “They do not have a guaranteed easy life. They don’t ask me about money, but if they asked me, ‘Is it my money?’ I would say no, it’s not yours.

“You lack nothing, you’ve got the alternatives to do whatever you need, but the money is mine, only mine. I’m supplying you with the foundations so that you may make your own money. But the money is not yours, it is mine. I provide the instruments so that you’ll be able to create your own wealth, your own story, with instruments that I didn’t have.”

According to Sportico, Alvarez’s career earnings currently stand at around £540m. By the end of his deal, he could become the second boxer to pass the billion-dollar mark in earnings, after his former rival Floyd Mayweather. He would also enter the top 20 highest-earning athletes in history, moving closer towards late basketball legend Kobe Bryant.

The Mexican has invested his wealth into various diversified businesses in a bid to preserve his fortune when he eventually retires. These include his energy drink company ‘Canelo Energy,’ convenience store chain ‘Upper,’ a fitness app called ‘I Can,’ a boxing promotion company named ‘Canelo Promotions’ and many more.

Explaining his business endeavours, he told BoxingScene: “We need to have one thing exterior of boxing. There can be a time when you retire and you need to have other business to do and spend your mornings. When you stop boxing, the money from boxing goes to stop, and you still need to spend what you spend proper now.

“So you need other businesses to give you the same lifestyle. So that’s why you need to [invest in] a business to keep your lifestyle. I come from nothing and I don’t want to be in that position again. I risk my life every single time [I fight]. Right now I can do my business and keep my family in a good position. That’s what I think every time I need to invest in a business.”
