Former Death in Paradise star Ben Miller has admitted he does not perceive the crimes in his latest detective show. The actor beforehand solved mysteries on the fictional Caribbean island of Saint Marie as DI Richard Poole in the BBC crime hit, but now portrays a criminology professor with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder who assists police in fixing circumstances in Professor T.
The ITV show’s fourth collection is set to launch later this month, and Ben revealed some particulars during an look on The One Show alongside his co-star Sunetra Sarker. He told the BBC programme’s hosts Alex Jones and Roman Kemp: “He is helping the Cambridgeshire police solve truly baffling crimes. I mean, I don’t think I’ve understood one yet!”
Sunetra, who performs DCI Maiya Goswami in the collection, agreed: “Not yet, no. I mean, they’re deliberately concocted to be like jigsaw puzzles. I think that you have, you won’t be able to solve this at home. I mean, I dare anybody in the audience to know what the crime, what caused the crime. at the beginning, because the professor comes from things so left field, doesn’t it?”
“Because he’s a criminologist,” said Ben. “He’s got a really deep understanding of criminal psychology. And he always brings that into the investigation.
“And we base the crimes on real, you already know, real crimes and real conditions. So there’s that variety of little pearl of authenticity.”
Sunetra added that her character and Ben’s “couldn’t be more different”.
“I imply, my character is all about evidence-based,” explained the TV star. “She is procedural. She is tough speaking. She says it how it’s.
“And the professor is his own animal that kind of creates his own world where he works it out. So we’re never in the picture. He’s never including us in how his thinking is.”
Professor T began in 2021, with the ITV show shortly changing into a favorite with viewers. Although viewers in the UK are about see collection 4, the fifth season has also been filmed and will air in the US this month.
