As we reported, after virtually 20 years of making people take off their footwear at the airport, the Department of Homeland Security is finally ending this rule.

This rule got here in 2006 after the “Shoe Bomber” Richard Reid, who tried to disguise and then detonate explosives hidden in his footwear on a flight from Paris to Miami in December 2001.
