DHS Slams KTLA’s Dishonest Spin on Chase of | Political News

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) publicly slammed KTLA for its “dishonest reporting” on an immigration enforcement operation at a Los Angeles church food drive.

They accused the local news station, recognized as “Los Angeles’s Very Own,” of omitting an official DHS assertion that was supplied before the outlet promoted a sympathetic story about a man arrested on church grounds.

The incident, captured on video, exhibits ICE brokers chasing down Carlos Chavez-Guzman, a beforehand deported Mexican national who fled law enforcement at North Hills United Methodist Church. Children may very well be heard cheering his tried escape.

Fleeing law enforcement is a federal crime.

The Heartbreaking Story of What Really Happened When ICE ‘Arrested’ That Little Boy

Church leaders, with the help of KTLA, framed the story as a traumatic “raid” on sacred grounds. A person minding his own business as he “helps with children’s ministries.”

The church posted to Facebook that ICE brokers “forced” their method onto the property.

“A San Fernando Valley community is outraged and devastated after they say federal immigration agents forced their way onto the grounds of a church during a food giveaway and arrested a man who church officials say helps with children’s ministries,” KTLA wrote.

The outlet posted the story to X. They claimed to have reached out to DHS for a assertion. But the division called them out, sharing the post and offering a screenshot of an e mail assertion they despatched an hour before KTLA pushed the story on social media.

“This is dishonest reporting by @KTLA,” they wrote. “KTLA omitted our official statement, sent to them yesterday, which clearly states that U.S. Border Patrol did NOT target the United Methodist Church or its parking lot in North Hills, California.”

“We look forward to them updating their story, but screenshots are forever.”

The DHS assertion also notes that Chavez-Guzman, portrayed as a simple churchgoer or even an harmless “taco vendor,” was making an attempt to resist law enforcement.

“Carlos Chavez-Guzman, an illegal alien from Mexico who was previously removed from the United States in 2016, chose to flee from law enforcement—a federal crime—leading officers on a foot chase before his arrest,” they revealed. “This operation also resulted in the arrest of two other individuals from Mexico who have violated the immigration laws of our country.”

The division gently reminded illegals that they’ve the option to keep away from such chaotic scenes by self-deporting, while receiving a good stipend, through the CBP Home App.

KTLA later amended its report, burying the DHS assertion at the very end.
